Just like Samantha Freeman. I wish I had read a review like this before booking a Family Cabin. It was awful, run down and broken, Everything in it is as cheap and as old as they can get away with. The only decent thing we had was the main bed mattress. All the cabins have no insulation and are extremely noisy and no air-conditioning. You can hear, every time anyone in any cabin: walks, slides a chair, open a door or goes onto their deck, the whole floor vibrates, sleeping peacefully is an extremely hard thing!!. The only reason to book here is for the location. I'd give it 1 star but for the decent laundry and the reception staff are trying their best so another star added. Won't waste my money here again. Very disappointed...
I wish we hadn't stayed here. The rooms really need attention/ updating. The carpet is worn out, the bathrooms were honestly very gross, and the beds were uncomfortable. The cleaning between guests is also very questionable; the toilet was un-flushed when we arrived in one of our rooms, which doesn't give me confidence that the room was sufficiently cleaned. The bathrooms smelled like urine and mold. The water kettle was brown on the inside. We stayed here two separate nights in two different rooms, and both rooms were in equally bad shape. After our first stay, I would have cancelled our second night but it is difficult to find accommodation on short notice in Queenstown. Really the only redeeming value is the walkability to town and parking available. Overall, this was the worst place we stayed on our trip to NZ.
Great location close to the city center. However, the powered sites are very small, and the spaces are packed tightly together. There were not many toilet and shower facilities, and unfortunately, they weren’t very clean.nnWe stayed for three nights and couldn’t freeze anything because there was only one small freezer available for many campers, and it was completely full.nnHalf of the stovetops in the kitchen didn’t work, but the kitchen area was otherwise large and well-equipped. The laundry room was excellent, with modern washing machines and dryers that could be operated by card.nnThe staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, which was a big plus.
I booked two adjacent pitches for four people two vehicles five months in advance. I wanted pitches without electricity. However, there were no available adjacent spots, so I paid an additional $100 for two pitches with electricity to be NEXT TO EACH OTHER. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were placed at opposite ends of the campsitennI went to the reception to explain the situation, but we arrived late 6:30 PM, and the campsite was full. The man at the reception kindly told us to come back the next day, as there would be free spots and we would be together.nnThe next morning, I went to the reception to request the change, but this time a young woman told us it was impossible to change our spots, even though there were plenty of free pitches available in the following days. She kept repeating the same thing like a parrot instead of offering a solution. I asked for a gesture of goodwill, but I believe her vocabulary ran out quickly because, as mentioned earlier, she just kept repeating the same thing over and over: 'The campsite is full, I can't do anything,' even though I had changed the subject. nnThe amenities were dirty. It was really expensive for what it was, and don’t expect to see the campsite’s lake because its view is non-existent.nnThe only positives were the man at reception, who was kind, and the location of the campsite. Otherwise, just pass on by :'.
You pay for the location. The campervan sites are just a glorified parking lot.nnFurthermore, they have sold part of a great outdoor area to the council for more parking lots. So, you're sitting outside in a parking lot looking at a metal fence with another parking lot.nnWashing machines very expensive at 6 bucks and wasn't clear that detergent wasn't included. Usually for that amount it is included and the instructions don't say to add detergent. So we paid 12 bucks for towels washed in just water.nnShowers lack hooks and space to store your clothes. Not enough toilets like other said too.nFriendly staff, and great location.nnThis was our second visit and probably the last.
