Extremely expensive for what you get. Location is good, walking distance to the center of Queenstown, that’s probably what you pay for. It is just a big muddy parking lot, you’re very close to each other.nShowers and toilets were OK, but not very clean.nDon’t expect to cook a proper meal in the kitchen, the stoves do not heat up properly, so after half an hour we decided to get our own stove from the car. The kitchen/lounge is very cold and there is no atmosphere at all, just feels like a big school cafeteria.nBecause of the issue with the stoves in the kitchen, it took us a lot longer to make our breakfast. We we’re about to leave at 10:30am, when a staff member was checking if everyone had left. She was very rude to us, still had her headphones on when she was telling us that check out was at 10. We told her about the issue in the kitchen. Her only reply was that we should have told them about the kitchen, she did not apologise for anything. She said the spaces were needed for the next campers the whole campground was empty, it is low season.nThis is the only campground during our year in NZ that we have experienced this, no kiwi hospitality at all.
I would never recommend this stay. It was the worst experience ever. The staff lacked a humanitarian approach and were not accommodating. I tested positive for COVID-19 two days before the booking date and requested a date change, but they were not willing to accommodate. They were only concerned about the money. Their response was extremely rude, especially considering the unexpected illness. When I informed them that my 6-month-old baby also tested positive, they said they didn't care.
Good location but camper sites are tiny and too close to neighbors. The facilities kitchen, showers, toilets, etc were not clean either.nnHard to beat the location though as it's only a few minutes walk from town.
This review is re campsite booking, not the rooms. I stayed here a couple of years ago and it was a really cute place. Clearly management has changed - the bathrooms weren't neat as before, random items and trash roaming around the premises, none of the stoves worked properly and there were 16 of them!, the kitchen was not hygienic as in the past. For the price we pay, honestly, we deserve more as consumers.nGreat location though!
Avoid if staying in a campervan or tent. I don't think they care at all about providing a decent space and facilities for those in campers. Bathrooms are a long walk and are just temporary buildings, and only a few stalls for what could be up to hundreds of people staying. They get so much use that it's constantly filthy and usually a line. The stalls even have privacy concerns when the floor and ceiling are wet and reflective.nnThe kitchen is drafty and packed, with cheap and minimal furniture, with as mentioned here as well we couldn't find any elements that got hot enough to boil water, they only got warm at best if you could find working ones at all.nnThe vans are double packed together, so this place is clearly just a soulless money grab by the owners. To think they charge a premium for such a temporary feeling encampment is a joke. No care taken to provide anything worth the money you'll be spending. The excuse is clearly that it's centrally located, but I'd have rather not prepaid and weighed up options better.nnStaff were apparently pleasant according to my partner but wouldn't want to give any more credit than 1 star here when as a kiwi, I'm ashamed this is the impression we would be giving tourists coming into the beautiful queenstown
