The 3 only big advantages of this backpacker are obviously the very reasonable price, security at night, and friendly staff. For that I'll give 2 stars, finding affordable accommodation in Queenstown isn't an easy task during high season. Everything else is basically terrible. 
I'm never against partying, but having the ground floor nightclub's bass pounding on the walls and making the beds shake all night is totally unacceptable. 
All backpackers aren't traveling only to party hard every night and do nothing in their rooms all day. My routine was waking up and sleeping early everyday to enjoy all the wonderful activities in and around Queenstown during the few days I had here, but couldn't sleep at night because of this nonsense. In my point of view, having respect for travelers who don't have the budget (  or who just don't want) to drink and party every night should go without saying.
Showers were almost always boiling hot, making very painful every attempt to take a shower, lockers under the bunk beds were broken, kitchen was overcrowded and dirty. Not to mention that most of the toilet door locks are broken, dormitories doors make a lot of noise opening and closing, and all other unfortunate little things that tarnish your stay there. Which is a shame because, like in every hostel in NZ, people are sweet and you'll end up having a good time anyway, but please do something about this nightclub!!!

The things I wish I knew before coming to this place :
_ The room are above an actual night club.
_ Poor noise isolation in the corridors. 
_ No wifi in the rooms. 
_ The rooms are not well cleaned and are smelly.
_ you have to download an app to check in.

We had a bad experience in this "hotel", see the reasons above. I would not recommend it if you are looking for a quiet place. On the other hand, the situation is exceptionally good  in the center of Queenstown for which I give one star.

The only good thing about this place is it's location. Now, the bad things. The 'cleaners' didn't clean the room they sat on the bed looking hungover, wiped one side of a single bed then left. Probably one of the reasons the place looks like a crack den. 
The rooms are pretty rank. The toilet door was broke so we couldn't have access to it. My bed sheet stunk of B.O so I didn't use it making me half freeze over night. 
The rooms are loud, no matter where you are staying in the hostel. There's a club downstairs pumping out music. Decent for a night out, bad for a good night's sleep. 
The bed above me was broke. 3 of the slacks were missing leaving the mattress above me caving in. I went asleep wondering if an overweight German girl was going to land on me and crush me to death during the night. Serious bad vibes man. 
Sort it out base you're one of the biggest hostels in australia and NZ. Never again!

Great place as we got a private room for $150 a night with your own bathroom and closet. Get location to the town center with a lively bar down stairs and helpful crew members would stay again for sure

Pretty average for a hostel, bed was very squeaky and noise from outside made it hard to sleep. More plugs than some hostels I've stayed in but placed inconveniently and could do with a few more. However all rooms have a smoking balcony which is very nice and their own shared toilet and shower in separate cubicles.
