Story

Flame. A secret South African BBQ recipe wrapped around amazing ribs and steaks. We’re a restaurant of course but we pride ourselves on the welcoming and enthusiastic service we bring to every table. Entertainment from start to finish. The views are stunning, the team are hand-picked for their passion and our warm welcome is just the beginning of what we hope will be a long and happy friendship.

Last dinner in Queenstown and NZ before heading back home tomorrow. After checking reviews, I decided on Flame, which had great ratings. The place was packed, so I grabbed a seat at the bar. I ordered New Zealand mussels, steak, and their signature ribs. Verdict? Good, but not mind-blowing. The steak was a bit tough it was a workout just cutting it, and while the ribs had great sauce, the meat didn’t quite fall off the bone. Still, not a bad way to wrap up the trip!
I always have dinners in this restaurant when in Queenstown and love their food a lot. Ribs are amazing with perfect sauce and the lamb skewer is perfect to satisfy both my eyes and mouth. nJust one thing to be desired is, although understand that the staff are crazily busy with full of customers all the time, it is always hard to get an attention to be served.
Great service, fast serving. We loved the Mozambic prawns and cheesy balls. Pretty disappointed at the ribs, rib eye steak and lamb skewers. They all have the same sauce which really masked the flavour of the meat. The ribs were also so dry that we think the extensive sauce was trying to compensate the dryness.
We decided to celebrate our anniversary dinner here as we only heard good things, and this place certainly did not disappoint!nFirstly, booking a reservation online was so easy and seamless. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff. The assistant general manager “Big Josh” went above and beyond to make us feel special on our anniversary. Our waitress, Lottie, was exceptional — she took the time to walk us through the menu and provided fantastic recommendations. Lottie truly deserves a special shoutout for her amazing service.nEvery dish that arrived was absolutely superb. The entire experience was flawless from start to finish! We can’t recommend this place enough.
A 5-star experience! The food, the service, the view were excellent, even the kiddy meals. I love that Sunrise doesn’t serve your typical kiddy meals. Mine ordered the steak, the cheesy rice balls and the pork ribs. Superb all round!
