Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney

Almost everything about our stay was 5 star. We got a great upgrade to a club room, was offered a late checkout and checked in early. The room had a great view and we were welcomed with champagne, hot tea and chocolates in the room. Why is it 4 starts you might ask. Well, the hotel is just a little dated and doesn’t really compare to an international standard of 5 star. Nothing too major but I would say the hotel is dangerously close to being a bit behind the times. Baths with views would have been an easy touch as well as a little bit more generous style. Do t get me wrong. This is not really a complaint. It was a good room and an even better experience. Perhaps just a touch generic.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff that took the small extra steps that made our stay special. The ability to check in early and use the fitness center bathing facility to freshen up after 24 hours of international travel was a lifesaver. Very fast modern lifts. Well appointed room with a phenomenal view. In easy walking distance from many key activities. Altitude resturant is a unforgettable dinning experience.

I just loved the attention to detail in my room, it was comfortable. the amenities were beautiful. I was there on conference and I have to say that you have one incredible staff member " Jay" that was running the Saturday team on catering. This young man was undoubtedly the perfect representation of the quality of your hotel. His attention to detail, his manner, his personality, his helpfulness was extraordinary, I hope you are able to pass my message on to him. and I have no hesitation in recommending him for his future roles in your Hotel group..

We were very pleased with the room and the facilities. The view from both windows was great and my husband spent most of his time gazing out of the windows, particularly the Circular Quay side. The staff were very professional and helpful at all times. Breakfast was certainly a special experience. Coming from South Australia for a special weekend, we found the hotel met all our expectations.

The wait at the front desk was too long after flying across the world. The room was not a 5 star experience. The TV did not work, maintenance took almost 2 hours to respond. There was left over half eaten food in the mini bar that was not cleaned out. There was a wet dark stain on the carpet that I found after stepping on it with my socks. The view was great from Room 3509. Park Hyatt is a better choice in my opinion. Also, the credit card machine was down at the front desk at check out. I did not get my invoice or get to review my final charges.
