The connecting rooms are decent in terms of cleanliness. The living area, balcony and rooms were nice. The bathrooms are dated. We were staying for 3 days and we were OK with no room cleaning however, my son was unwell and so we requested that one of the bathrooms was cleaned and they wanted to charge me for that. They weren't sympathetic to the situation.nnThere was some miscommunication and rooms aren't ready early unlike some other hotels.nnThey have a pool and hot tub - the showers here are disgusting!! one of the best amenities they have is a small lounge for those who arrive earlier than check in time but the showers are disgusting here.
We booked a higher floor turned out 51th floor, great! two bedroom, with one king- and two twin-sized beds, very suitable for our family of three. There is a kitchen with utensils, so we cooked our breakfasts every day. The location cannot be better — just a block from the busy George Street and the L2 light rail, 5-7 min walk from China town, and 12 min walk to the Australia museum. Many restaurants around. The people at the front desk are friendly and helpful. We had a great 3-night stay, and we will stay there again next time!
Overall we were disappointed with our stay at Meriton Suites, Kent Street. The common areas really let the place down - the floor lobbies and elevators weren’t very clean, and the hallways always had a strong, unpleasant smell.nnThe elevators were a constant annoyance. One was completely out of order, and the rest used a convoluted system that either made you wait ages for an elevator or sometimes skip your floor entirely. It made getting around far more frustrating than it should have been.nnThe saunas were out of order, and we were told that pest control could come to your room at any time for checks.nnService was also slow and frustrating. Asking for simple things like extra towels or dental kits took an inordinately long time, and after waiting, we were sometimes told the items weren’t available anyway.nnOverall, it didn’t live up to expectations and felt poorly maintained for the price. The only positive was having a washing machine and the excellent location, which meant we were able to spend as little time as possible in the hotel.nnWould not recommend.
I have generally stayed at Meriton for many years when visiting Sydney, but my recent five-day stay was extremely disappointing and certainly not worth the $2,500 I paid.nnHousekeeping only attended once and that was only after I specifically requested it at the end of day two. Reception even asked me what time I preferred the room to be cleaned, and I clearly emphasised the afternoon. They confirmed it would be done between 12pm and 4pm the next day. Yet the very next morning housekeeping arrived at 8:45am while I was still asleep and proceeded to tidy the room around me. My bed was not made a single time during the entire stay.nnThe room was also missing a basic item: a luggage rack. I asked for one, but it never arrived. I had to ask again the next day, and only then was it finally left at my door.nnI also ran out of coffee pods and had to go down to reception myself to get more because they were never restocked.nnFor the price paid, this was nowhere near the standard Meriton used to deliver. It really felt like maximum fee for minimum service.
Spent Christmas week here. It was amazing! We had everything we needed including in suite laundry, and the staff was very good.nnWe were able to walk back from the Sydney Opera house 2 km or so, so the location is wonderful.
