I would give 100 stars if i could. Best experience ever! I love coming to this cinema, super nice, easy going staff, GREAT PRICES!! Half if not less the price of any other cinema, including food and tickets, no arranged seats so you cab choose anywhere, not busy at all, so no worrying about getting tickets or finding a good seat, clean and rubbish bins everywhere. Nice small cinema, definitely recommend!
Asked me 12 months ago and I would have given Gympie Cinemas 3 stars…mainly because of seats. But recently they upgraded them so that gripe is out. This place has local charm…it’s owner operated, which to me adds to the small business community feel. Prices are good. However make sure you book online, the lobby is small so lines can be out the door. The snacks are well priced but when it’s busy it can slow down the queue. I’d recommend tickets online then arriving early if you want snacks.
Went in to try out the new seats. They are more upright in design and provide greater leg room. As always the customer service was excellent and a wonderful outing at a very reasonable price!!
I love going to Gympie Cinema...the new seats are very comfortable and it's local which means I don't have to drive to the coast to see new movies.
Guy serving customers was so rude. Spent $88 to come here spent money on movie tickets, snacks and drinks. Was spoken to so rudly, trying to order the combos to make sure everyone got what they wanted and we're happy and he got angry that I didn't order all the drinks at the same time. He was very snappy and ungrateful about how much money we where spending on his cinema. Next time I'd rather spend the fuel money and go to somewhere nicer.

Old style place... clean ish... cosy... comfortable seats... great place to go on a rainy day camping.
They make you put your purse or bag in office and the older women there is rude and the popcorn taste really bad and air con was barely noticeable
Such a cute cinema with all you need to spend a chilled couple of hours with the family! I took three children for a daytime show and I couldn’t fault it. The place is clean, with comfortable new chairs I think they are new? -They seem like it, nice young lady in the ticket booth, cheap tickets, and the candy bar with everything you’d expect from a cinema but about half the price you’d pay elsewhere! Their homemade choc top ice creams are really yummy too. Had a wonderful time there and it was 2 of the kids first movie experience!
In 1992, I won the lucky door prize at the exclusive screening of 'Strictly Ballroom'. In 1998 I christened my prize, six crystal wine glasses, to celebrate turning 18. I've seen more movies at this cinema than any other in the country, and while I am partial to enjoy a Gold Class Experience, being twice in 19 years, Gympie has a reputation for bringing back the eighties, and the Sovereign Cinema does it in style. The decor, facilities and service are spot-on. It's not worn and torn - the premises is in original, but immaculate condition. Let's hope it stays this way so Gympie's Sovereign Cinema can maintain a historical standard similar to that of Pomona's Majestic Theatre. By Emily Black
