Usually go to Palace James Street when in Brisbane, but today I returned to Barracks to catch two of the British Film Festival screenings, the first time here in ages.nnSo pleased I did as I’d forgotten how good Palace Barracks is. Was in Cinema 3 for both films - a lovely cinema offering a perfect movie going experience - and enjoyed a coffee and some time in between and after in the airy “lobby with a view”. And both movies were terrific, as was the friendly service from Kitty.nnWill definitely be returning more often. Today was great And as we don’t have Palace on the Gold Coast, so glad to have both Palace James Street and Barracks in Brisbane, different types of venues, but both excellent in their own way and both offering quality and varied movie options as for all Palace cinemas. Thank you Palace!
Stairs give you a short burst of exercise. Only going up obviously.nnOne lift to the top.nnOr you can walk around which takes longer but is probably easier than stairs.nnDefinitely needs a deep clean under the seating area at the top glass look out section. The glass needs a deep clean too as it restricts the quality of photographs you take.nnCigarettes buts clearly visible as approaching. Needs more and regular cleaning required.
I recently visited this cinema for the first time and it was a great experience. Everything was very clean when we went in and the service was impeccable. Their olive oil popcorn is different but also great! They offer three hours free parking as well, which is really convenient if you’re going to drive there and any more than that is four dollars, + which is also very cheap and handy. I like that it offers a view of the city as well in the waiting area.
As a company hiring out the space, this is by far the best experience we have had so far for a work event. Everything was so smooth, the staff were incredible, so knowledgeable and accommodating to last minute requests.nnOur event went off without a hitch and looked phenomenal. A huge shout out to the projectionist and their passion to ensure our boring PowerPoint presentation has the right saturation, focus and quality. The team genuinely went above and beyond and I couldn’t be more appreciative
We are long-time cinema club members at Palace. We bought tickets online for a showing on Saturday night but were unable to attend because it clashed with a rugby match at the stadium, and all the parking was taken up by people going to that event. We were unable to park, so we went home.nnWe asked for a refund and were told to re-book for another night. We were unable to do that online the screening had started, I guess, so we repeatedly called the box office to book it manually. The phone rang out four times. I emailed the feedback line and were told nothing could be done. We just wanted our tickets to be made valid for another session at the same cinema. Too much trouble?nnWe have been attending this cinema for many years and were very disappointed. We will be going elsewhere in the future.
