Lovely old building with a number of small dining areas. Was lovely and warm inside. Fabulous staff. Service was great and we didn’t wait long. Delicious garlic flat bread dripping in garlic butter. I had the warm winter salad and it was a taste sensation and very filling.
We had breakfast at The Old Vicarage and it was an absolutely beautiful experience from start to finish.nnThe setting alone makes it worth a visit. The building itself is full of character, and the interior feels warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. It has that rare balance of being elegant without feeling overly formal, with plenty of charm in every room. The gardens and outdoor areas are especially special, creating a peaceful, almost hidden-gem atmosphere that makes the whole visit feel like a little escape.nnBreakfast was delicious, with well-prepared dishes that felt generous and fresh. Everything arrived beautifully presented and full of flavour, exactly what you want from a relaxed weekend meal.nnWhat really stands out here is the overall ambience, the combination of heritage architecture, cosy interiors, and stunning garden spaces makes it a place you don’t just eat at, but properly enjoy spending time in.nnA memorable breakfast spot that we’d happily return to.
I had a flat white which was lovely. A lighter roast and light toffee milky flavour to match. Not bitter at all! The coffee was also just the right temp, very hotnnWith it i had salmon eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfect and sauce tasteful. The potato rosti was perfect and brioche was nice and light. Overall delicious.nnThe staff were awesome accommodating us as a walk in on valentine's day and the food came out quickly.nnThe place is a old vintage style house cafewho'd of guessed and it had a nice outside seating area, but also good room indoors. Great feel of heritage and old-style while the food felt modern and delicious.nnGreat for small to medium groups, awesome for people staying in christchurch to get out of the city, but not to far out. Would go again!
Friend had the lamb shank which she said was really good, Both my partner and I Had the pork belly... beautiful, juicey, succulent pork with very crunchy crackle, veggies were very fresh and tasty, especially the parsnip puree. At first apon looking at the menu, I thought it didnt have much to choose from, but then I understood why, so that they could really focus on what they did have and make each meal great. Very charming little building. Would definitely go again
We had a lovely dining experience at The Old Vicarage Cafe & Restaurant. The Vicars Breakfast was great, and the Akaroa salmon fillet and venison fry were both delicious and well cooked. The salt & pepper squid was especially nice—crispy on the outside and soft inside.nOverall, a very enjoyable meal with good flavours and a relaxing atmosphere. Would definitely come back again.
