The Old Vicarage Cafe, Restaurant & Bar

We returned to the restaurant where we had our wedding dinner many years ago. Visiting from Melbourne, we decided to take a chance and walk in without a reservation. Even on a busy evening, the staff were incredibly welcoming and found us a table for four within minutes. The service was fantastic, with the specials described in great detail and sounding delicious. We ordered the salmon and the pasta of the day, both of which were absolutely amazing! The salmon was so tender it melted in your mouth. Our tween kids loved the pork belly bites and chicken wings. This place is definitely worth a stop—you won’t be disappointed! Highly recommend!

Spacious venue and great staff. Lunch menu $22-32 and portions small. My salt a pepper seafood had great flavours but was really dry. The tomato sauce was rich and fish needed something more delicate and less chunky.nnGood parking, toilets and variety of spaces including a bar.

Super quick and good was very nice. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Caters well to people with dietary restrictions.

Went for lunch for 3. Nice but nothing special. Prices are a bit on the high side for what you get, but that's pretty standard through NZ. Small front room was full, so it was quite noisy. Meals were served quickly. All the staff were great. Would say a simple menu executed reasonably well.

First time at the Vicarage, great location and a beautiful garden area, we'll kept. The menu is pretty standard from what you find throughout NZ these days, but the food was executed perfectly and delivered quickly with great service. Highly recommend.
