The room was quite large, well appointed with a large double and a single bed, nice bathroom and spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly. The breakfast is one of the best buffet type breakfasts I have ever seen. Hot food was excellent, there were some really nice fluffy pancakes, maple syrup, really good range of fruit, coffee, muesli, cold meat, cheese bread and etc and all very good quality. Staff at breakfast were particularly helpful and nice. The location is great, walking distance to the center of town a matter of minutes. Highly recommended.
We recently visited Christchurch on an Air NZ Mystery weekend we were gifted. Rydges Latimer was the accommodation we were given, and it was absolutely perfect for us. Excellent central location, the service was amazing, and the facilities were really good the on-site restaurant Bloody Mary's is a must do the buffet breakfast served every morning was a highlight. The rooms were really clean and warm, and the bed was super comfy. 10/10 would stay here again.
We had our wedding reception at Bloody Mary’s. The communication with them up to the wedding was great. We had a meeting with Binod and he answered all our questions. The reception was stress free. We had lots of staff looking after us even though there were other functions on at the Rydges that night too. The food and drink was amazing. We were so happy with how the food came out all at once especially since we had about 50 guests. We had an amazing time at Bloody Mary’s and are so happy we chose them for our reception.
They take a hold of the full cost of the room plus a bond. I regularly stay at Hotels and never had this before. Then I had to pay in full when checking out, and had to wait 2 weeks for the hold to be returned. Not ideal. Room was fine, nothing special. Location is fine, not directly in the center of town, but not so far you can't walk from town.
A 3 night stay at this hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Good location for the centre shops & restaurants. Had 2 lunches here during our stay food excellent and bar service good , Adam a member of the bar staff, was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was extra so we decided to eat out as there were many places to choose from. Little bit of an issue with the Bar/restaurant manager who moved us from our seating outside as apparently we shouldn’t be drinking outside we had water and that we were blocking a fire exit ?? No signs to say this was the case and the door was a normal accessible door. Found this quite bizarre Also had to request room clean which on our return from a trip out hadn’t been done , leaving the receptionist to do it later that evening. Overall a good location to stay
This Hotel will request a Bond which may be a couple hundred additional ontop of your room. Have never come across this practice before after travelling across the globe. Will apparently take weeks to months to have your bond returned to you instead of the vaguely stated "Upon checkout" notice. To this date I haven't been given my bond back and emails have gone unanswered. Friendly staff yet many had "In Training" badges so to my understanding the retention isn't great. The rooms are as expected from an establishment of this 'standard'. My room had a loose shower head that needed fixing as water was leaking from it. I personally wouldn't stay here again due to the lack of communication and bond shennanigans but if you need a decent place to stay for a night or two then limit yourself to only a few days.
I was there for a meeting. It took a while to find the meeting room as it was down a narrow corridor that was not easily found. The morning tea was nice but lunch was tasteless. The beetroot salad tasted of nothing. The wrap rolls were ok. The slice was nice. It was a strange food combination. Walkability: Close to a few cafes nearby.
Not safe ! I was traveling alone on business , and at 3am I get woken up by a man standing in my hotel room. My door was locked from inside and the reception staff assisted him to open my door. It was the most terrifying experience of my life , It left me shaking . Once I alarmed that I was in the room by screaming at both men. They left in a hurry left without saying anything. Manager was apologetic and put it down to system error. However my troubles with this didn’t stop there, I went to the restaurant for breakfast and was told my room number was not allocated to any guest. Again I came to reception to get that sorted system error or not I wouldn’t recommend this hotel due to safety concerns.
We had the pleasure of staying here over the holidays and also back-to-back with a more expensive hotel nearby. This hotel was far better in just about every way than the more expensive hotel. Great staff, very clean, nice decor, speedy lifts, nice small gym and good wifi. You can’t go wrong staying here if visiting Christchurch. It’s also walking distance to the centre of the city.
The venue is amazing. The room was very comfortable. The team were always willing to help. My first visit and stay in Christchurch. I will be back!Rooms: 5/5
