A good hotel with decent sized rooms. The beds were soft and comfortable and we had an unblocked view of the surrounding area. The TV was modern and had many channels. The room we were in was also unique as the toilet basin was not in the toilet but outside with a divider facing the beds. The room was well heated and comfortable. The breakfast was diverse with many dishes available there were also ample seating so we could have a space to eat even during peak breakfast timing. The food was delicious and there was enough food for everyone to eat despite it having many people.
Great location for access to the city, including, shopping and markets close by. Rooms are clean and tidy, some furniture is a little worn. Staff are friendly and helpful and will attend to reasonable requests. Free parking is limited and first-in basis. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would book again for the location.Rooms: 4/5
Excellent function room, with a private bar area on entry. The room has great acoustics, sound and screens, was set up perfectly with tables and stationary, and really nice catering. Highly recommend for seminars, workshops, or any professional function.
The spacious room was very nice, it even has a bathtub. Bonus. It's adjoining above the new city library - Turanga. Nice & quiet room. The only thing is that my room has really strong smell when walked in. Other than that it was a really nice stay.Rooms: 4/5
Great location in cbd so can walk everywhere. City trams stop right outside. Very comfy rooms & bed. Great service. Restaurant is expensive. Bathroom quirk - handbasin is by room entrance/bed, not in bathroom.Rooms: 5/5
Spent my New years holiday with 2 young kids at this hotel. Great location right behind the CHristchurch Cathdral and handy to all the CBD has to offer. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommendating, we were permitted to have a little bit of quiet birthday party at the hotel bar for us to cut the cake. The duty manager gave us a card and some chocolates, which was a great gesture and we really appreciated them. Rooms were not the newest, but they were clean and tidy, we had the superior double rooms looking at the playground , really quiet, and shower was great. Tried hotel buffet breakfast with good varities of food which we enjoyed. Would we be back? Yes, we will! Highly recommended this hotel.
Simple hotel in a good centralised location. Not much in terms of facilities but the location trumps that. You’re close to the tram stop and the main shopping strip and restaurants. Lots of Ubers/taxis around. Highly recommend the breakfast in the library downstairs.Rooms: 3/5
The actual room is ok - it's clean and the beds are comfy. I don't know why there are two different kinds of shower head in the bathroom, as one of them can't be tilted and is completely useless. Their advertising includes images of branded toiletries in tubes. What you actually get is three pump bottles of cheap, no frills detergent fixed to the wall; one says 'shampoo', one says 'body wash' and one says 'hand soap'. If you pump them out into your hand, it's the same stuff in all three bottles. Don't put it on your hair, it'll turn it into frizzy straw. The air conditioning unit makes an impressive noise that will keep you awake all night, but has no detectable air coming out of it and the room quickly becomes stale and overheated, which is unfortunate because the windows don't open either. The breakfast buffet looks good at first glance, but largely consists of overcooked, lukewarm or cold food, and bowls of cut fruit that's either from a tin or has been pre-prepared and then refrigerated for so long it is shriveled and tasteless. My first night there, the person delivering room service pushed past me into the room and put my food down on the table. The second night, I opened the door and stood to one side to let them in, and they said "do you expect me to carry that inside for you?" as if I was doing something unreasonable. The guest manual says they have several different kinds of pillow, but if you ring housekeeping and ask for a firm one providing they answer the phone, they again respond as if you're being unreasonable and then bring you yet another soft pillow to add to the mountain of pillows on the bed and tell you that it's all they can find. It's conveniently located right next to Te Pae convention centre, but I didn't enjoy staying there. I switched to a motel for the final few days of my trip, and was vastly more comfortable.
