I rated three star over all. The staff get a 5 stars. The rating was cause their hot tubs and pool where not working, the restaurant was closed and there was a big pee stain on the toilet. Overall it's is a nice hotel with laundry amenities we used. And it is in a good location. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Close to a park and the local spa where you can bathe in hot spring water. So it wasn't terrible but not they where not at their best.
The room that we had booked was given to someone else with the same last name! We have never had this happen anywhere in our travels. The staff were still very nice, and they charged us a lower rate for the replacement room. The building itself is sort of old and has a vintage feel. The rooms were mostly clean, but we found a couple of hair ties that were left around the room. We only stayed one night and the location was pretty convenient to everything we wanted to do in Rotorua.
The very friendly reception guy was very helpful and is a credit to the motel, loved the decor so decided to have lunch since room was not ready, nice foid but when you all stand there for ages and get ignored totally for good 15 minutes, a smile and a will be with you shortly would have helped but we felt like we were just a nuisance being there and there was only one other table there, and then she had a service award badge, I think she must have borrowed it, but food was lovely. The cleaners have a very positive friendly manner, so helpful, offering to help open gates and asking if they could help, just awesome, our room was clean and cute but do agree it could use some upgrading. The stars are for the staff, we enjoyed our stay, location great.
A lovely character Hotel. Most of the staff were excellent. The room was clean and well appointed and all the facilities we needed. Was considerably quieter than I expected for it's location. Just let down by one staff member in the events room but I can't let that take away from the rest of the stay. Would definitely stay again.Rooms: 4/5
If you stay in the main hotel building, that’s not bad. But in the other building… not good. Stained carpet, tears where it is pulling away. Paint scrapes on skirting board, grubby cords. Chandelier in bedroom broken. Curtains not hitched properly. Bed mattress low quality. This place is pretty shabby.Rooms: 1/5
Hate the use of the word "Boutique" This is not a "Boutique Hotel" and it well never be one. The room was a $147 a night mid week. the room was small, smelly, cold, worn out and depressing. there was no sound deadening from the adjoining rooms or above. The rose carpet from the 1960's and the peeling paints and chipped cream tiles in the tiny bathroom and a real window would have helped. Hated every second in this hole!! Employ a good interior designer, from Australia, as we are!! and send some money and they could charge 3 x the room amount. Rotorua in General was depressing....The Gold Coast looks great in comparison.... pick your game up mate or the tourist well never come back!!
When I booked this hotel I was really excited by the decor, design and elegance. I checked in, arrived at my room and was surprised to find a small, dark, unloved boring white walled room with dull carpet. Bed is very uncomfortable, curtain in small lounge half of railing and plug didn’t fit in bath so had to ask reception for a replacement and one of the chandeliers has its beading falling off. Room has the basics of a hotel room but certainly is not as advertised.
A wee bit miffed that we were quoted $137 a night, and then got charged $180! When asking why the difference in price, I was basically told I was lying.... But will say that on arrival the staff are just lovely... But no one wants to answer my questions, or no apology either... Stunning room, and awesome pool!
A grand old hotel with interesting history. Rooms warm and clean. The staff were outstanding in the friendliness and level of service they gave. They were noticeably short staffed but you would not have known given the excellent service.Rooms: 3/5
Great location, but totally overpriced for a run-down room. Our one bedroom suite was shabby - stain on the couch, nail clippings on the floor, pretty grubby overall. The room had a kitchen, which was poorly equipped - couldn't find a dish cloth or a tea-towel. Building debris & rubbish is strewn around the property - not a great look when you open your curtains. Definitely won't be visiting again.
