Xu Hongfei, a famous Chinese sculptor, brings his globally acclaimed series of “Chubby Women” statues to Aotea Square.nnYou can also spot a few Thai cultural elements in this special exhibition.nnHis works have embraced the beauty of large-size bodies and empowered many plus-size ladies around the globe oppressed by the deep-rooted beauty standard With the statues of different chubby women full of humour and free spirit, the artist wants to encourage people of any size to live their lives with joy, confidence and positive energies
An exceptional experience to witness a Diwali function , that too away from India. Truly was a mindblowing day to witness the crowd, the colours, laughter and celebrations. One of the happening places in queenstreet. Perfect place for a weekend walk with friends and family
Will be crap until the old, derelict ex-Planet Hollywood complex is either refurbished and tenanted or demolished. It's a disgrace. The square itself is as nice as it can be under the circumstances but foot traffic is low and commercial activity non-existent.
Aotea Square is one of the most iconic and lively public spaces in Auckland! It’s a perfect spot to hang out, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere. Whether you're grabbing a coffee at one of the nearby cafes or catching a performance, there’s always something happening here. The square is well-maintained, with ample seating and open areas. It's a central location that’s easy to access, and it also has a great vibe during events like festivals or outdoor performances. A great place to unwind and people-watch in the heart of the city!
Nice square but not many people around & some business was closed.
