We had a nice stay here! The receptionist was very friendly and gave us some useful advice for treks in the area. Flat spot for the camper van, warm showers, clean bathroom and a full kitchen. I can imagine it getting alot more packed in the summer months so it would definitely be worth it to book ahead. Plan to take the bus if you want to do the full crossing, as the owners helpfully pointed out there is a strictly enforced 4 hour parking limit at the start of the Tongariro track.

It’s a backpackers place with common bathroom and common kitchen. There are place for RV and to pitch the tents. It’s run by and very good block. Park your car here and take the shuttle to Tongariro crossing. The rooms are no luxury you need to carry your own linens and or sleeping bag. There’s a tv room and a old pool table.

Recently stayed here and it was great. Kitchen everything was new, tidy & very clean. The rooms had everything you needed, tidy & clean also and parking right outside. Staff were friendly when booking in throughout the stay and helpful with booking a bus for the Tongariro Crossing.

Worst experience ever due to the owner of the campsite. We tried to call to inform we will arrive late (9.30pm). Once arrived the owner showed up and kicked us out even if we have booking for 2 days. We have a baby travelling with us and told the owner. His reaction was “I don’t care”. 
He didn’t let us in even if we showed the voucher. The owner didn’t even let us found ourselves a place to stay after 10pm. 
A place to avoid if you don’t want to ruin your trip in Tongariro.
