Great freedom camping area with tons of space for parking, but it is very popular and can get crowded. Nice and close to the lake with many places offering views if you're quick enough. It's a wee way from shops, no dump station or water.

Good, free (for self contained vehicles), DOC campsite.  

It gets busy and the is a lot of uneven ground so can be hard to park in some areas.

The lake is lovely to swim in.

Wonderful spot. Good for swimming. Makes up for Taupo's anti motor home attitude. Can even avoid the town completely when travelling north. Saved spending money there.
