Awesome place, clean, great staff, good bed!
The early shuttle is so convenient to avoid the crowd and the tough sun.
Just one thing to be aware of is that the first pick up shuttle is at 12.30. So, if you’re running the trail might be best to arrange for a private one. Though the staff can help... again, nice staff 😃

The sandwich made by the Chef was delightful, I recommend. Easy solution to go up early.

I stayed in the camp site (without power) for 2 nights. It's a good place to stay for preparing the Tongario Alpine Crossing and taking the rest. I am satisfied with the whole area including the camping area, common kitchen and shower room. The common kitchen is tidy and shower room always has the hot water. Plus the camping is not crowded. The staffs are friendly as well.

We stayed in one of the Chalets for 2 nights (to do the Crossing). The service and facilities were fantastic. A highlight was dinner at the restaurant. The selection and prices were surprisingly reasonable. We all (4 of us) ordered the lamb and were actually delighted with our meal. The lamb was cooked to perfection, lovely accompaniments and the serving was generous.James (the Chef) could not have done any more us.

Stayed there in 2015 and had a great experience - the kitchen had all basic pots, cutlery etc, which is handy. Came back 2018 and recommended a group of friends to stay there as they are not used to camping in wilder style campgrounds, so I know they would have everything we need. Unfortunately this time they didn't have anything in the kitchen and charged NZD5 for pots and NZD5 for cutlery.  While I'm used to stay in DOC campsites and wild camping, carrying all my own stuff, the few times I stayed in similar types of "Lodge, Holiday Parks, private campgrounds" they always have at least basic stuff in the kitchen.  They told us the reason to not have anything is because people steal them. I would recommend making this clear on the website or maybe borrowing the pots/cutely with a bond? 

Apart from that, 5 star - helpful staff, good facilities, showers, organized transfer service, etc.

It is a great camp site in general. Awesome location with beautiful views and the owners are super friendly! The only thing I would recommend fixing are shared communal facilities with showers and kitchen. That really needs an update.
