Thrifty Car & Truck Rental Sydney Airport

I actually had a very smooth experience here. I'd booked a car online in advance. When picking up, it took less than 2 minutes to get the keys to the car, and the service came with a smile. The car was a joy to drive, and dropping off was as smooth as the pickup. From all the rental services here, I've only tried ACE before and won't ever go back there again. My experience at Thrifty was the complete opposite, exactly what you hope for when renting a car. The only downside was that I didn't get a proof of dropping the car off, which I found odd. However I received my bond back the next day, all good.

I had the best experience with Thrifty car hire at the Sydney airport. All staff were very friendly and professional. Big thanks to John, who was looking after me and helping with the car. My hired car (Mitsubishi ASX)) was almost brand new and was a good value for money. Recommend to everyone.

Would never use again, girl on the front counter was so rude..... $ 4000 excess what a joke, told us the car we wanted was not available - make a booking on line and found car we wanted.... walked over to pick up the car and there were about 10 of the same cars just sitting there !!!!!

I don't really like their damage policy : When I picked up my car at domestic terminal , their office(She) asked me to buy their insurance , otherwise any damages will charge me 4000 AUD straight. I confirmed it's not maximum but straight. After her intimidation , I inquired their insurance price,it's was huge even more than my total rental fee. So I declined it and carefully drove away and returned my car safely though , It affected my holiday mood all the way. Their damage policy or intimidating people to buy their insurance really make me sick.

The staff at Sydney airport, although efficient, did not greet me in any way that could be considered friendly or even good business practice. As I approached the counter, the young women said- "Your licence!" in an abrupt voice and bored manner. There was no smile, no 'hello' or 'how was your flight?' or 'welcome to Sydney'. Not a way to welcome international visitors to Sydney (or indeed any visitor). After producing my licence for her, she then proceeded to tell me the expenses I would be liable for in the event of damage to the car... no queries about what I had already done ( I had taken additional insurance at the time of booking) or if I was happy with my cover. She was abrupt, rude and unfriendly. Fortunately the young man who helped me get my rental car out of a tight spot (where it was parked in by other vehicles) was most helpful, skilful and polite. The rental vehicle was excellent - brand new and exactly what we wanted.This was at the Thrifty pickup point, not in the terminal proper, as that office was closed.
