Very poor. The room was ok but we had booked a room for 3 and only received 2 towels, 2 cups and 2 glasses. I had to ask twice before this was corrected. House keeping didn't arrive until 5:30 just as we were wanting to get ready for dinner. When discussed with the manager I was told "that's just the way it is". I honestly expected better from Rydges having only had good experiences with them in the past. I think the big issue is that they appear to be acutely under-staffed.

Cheap but dated and average maintained. Was given a room with disabled bathroom, told them that the bathroom is blocked but not attended to. Won't recommend going during summer as it was hot with no air conditioning, got to have all the windows opened and fan myself to sleep for the past 3 nights. Good value for what they charge but I won't return. Slightly better than a double ensuite back packer type room.

Okay so i visited the Hotel for my birthday and i absolutely 100% recommend not staying there. Ive stayed in caravans with better services then this place. First of all the service is disgusting, the duty manager on sight at the time was rude and impolite, he looked like he hated his job. Secondly the hygiene was ridiculous, the rooms were disgusting, there was dirty socks, a plastic cup, m&m chocolates and tampon rappers on the ground under the beds. Linen and bedding had stains on them, and the heater was barely stuck to the wall. The bathroom contained empty shampoo and conditioner bottles that had no service to use, and for the amount of $400 i tell you that place is a joke. Not to mention the unhidden fact that in the terms and conditions apparantly it mentions there is a $50 bond for each room, to which when i spoke to the receptionist that morning and asked about the costs, she mentioned nothing of that. So i guess thats a sneaky way to make money right Thorndon Hotel. Its absolutely sad that i spent my night there in a dirty room for the money i paid. I work in the Hospitality industry and trust me i know a lazy job when i see one. If i had the customer service they do there in my job, my boss would fire me straight where i stand.

Really Great Food! It currently of the 20/01/18 has rather average rooms and cleaning services. A good place if you want cheap.

My stay was for the 17/12/2017 I had booked for one night at thorndon hotel, I booked it so I could go straight from there to the airport. I then ended up finding someone who was driving to Wellington that same day for a flight around the same time. So because it was passed the cancel date, the online service gave me a chance to request a cancellation. So I requested one of the 13/12/2017. Nobody got back to me and today I have just checked my account and the money has been deducted from it. I rung them and they said there was nothing they could do about it.
