Absolutely LOVED our stay at The Rydges. From reception, amazing service. Spa, Sauna & Pool very nice. Rooms were great. THE RESTAURANT SERVICE WAS UNMATCHED. We felt very taken care of! Thanks Rydges Wellington team!
+5 Starts for helpful, customer focussed staff.nnThanks to the helpful manager/staff late on a Friday night, resolved a booking error I had made and ensured my stay was 5 stars. When self-parking, a staff member got my attention and helped to find a top parking spot.nnWill be back - staff are the greatest asset - the quiet, well kept room was a bonus.nnIf reading this review looking to make a decision, perhaps looking to save a little - dont hesitate to book. Includes considering parking options, this is not an issue at Rydges Wellington.
Cannot recommend at all. Parking is half a kilometre away and we have to move the car in the morning. The room is clean, but the bathroom sink is cracked, the door is damaged and no-one is answering on reception to lodge our concerns. Had to wait for our room, then had to wait ages in the bar for a drink - staff member did apologise for the long wait, saying he was the only staff member on who could make cocktails tonight! Worst hotel we've stayed in while in New Zealand, can't wait to leave.
The receptionist gave poor instructions on how to get to the room. Not very friendly and felt like she couldn't understand anything we were asking her. On the other hand there was a young male receptionist and his service was spot on! Ka Pai To Mahi.nCheck in time is suppose to be 3pm we had to wait for an hour before our room was ready.nThere was no parking available on the first night we stayed so we had to park our car in a place they suggested and it looked very unsafe. On arrival the room smelt quite bad and they did not clean the room properly nor replenish all the items in the room. On the second day we arrived back at 4.30pm to find that our room was not serviced. We left our door hanger on the door requesting it to be serviced. I spotted the cleaner and asked her if anyone was going to service our room, she said it wasn't her room to service. I asked for the supplies and serviced my own room. TV was faulty multiple times. Tried ringing reception off their phone they provide in the room, no answer multiple times. Rung off my own phone they answered straight away. On the second and third night we had valet parking. Only issue we had with the parking is that we couldn't get anything from our car straight away, we had to wait 20 minutes just to grab a jersey. We were in a rush so we left for dinner without it. The pool & spa were very nice, unfortunately there was the same ball of hair sitting on the edge of the pool over the 3 days we were there. Overall experience was not the greatest. Definitely the worst experience and stay I've ever had at any Hotels. Especially when it is quite pricey you would think they would be more accomadating.
Good location to the ferry terminals. Although car parking was a short distance to the hotel. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and replenished quickly. Room was good, the double bed was too soft for us. Had a view of the harbour. Even though there was a small hobb, there was no cooking equipment. Recommend to stay if you need an overnight before or after your ferry journey across Cook Strait.
