We’ve previously stayed at a Rydges in different cities and have enjoyed it so far. Rydges Wellington, however, was a disappointing experience.nnRooms are outdated and are in dire need of renovations. Initial room given to us had stains on the bed and tv remote did not work.nUpon raising this, reception changed us to a different room, where everything worked but we did find an old sock under the desk.nnBoth rooms had worn out carpet, mouldy bathroom tiles and very loud, dusty air conditioning.nBeds were comfortable but due to the condition of the rooms, I wouldn’t recommend for longer stays.nnSwimming pools/spa needs ventilation. We came out of the place feeling sick with a sore throat from the overwhelming chlorine smell.nnWe’ve also noticed leftover food sitting in hallway for a full day. We’re not sure if it’s been cleaned as of yet.nnBreakfast buffet was the only redeeming factor during our stay with Rydges Wellington - great range of cooked breakfast.
Pleasant stay. Great location for walking to many of Wellington's go to attractions including the waterfront. Staff was kind. Air conditioning couldn't really keep up with the sun coming in the windows. Room always felt stuffy if midday sun was coming in.
Fabulous 3 day stay here. Lovely room with balcony and sea view. Super comfortable bed and pillows. No idea if aircon worked we left the door open for air, no idea if tv worked we explored the city well and truly. Restaurant service was great but the menu is very meaty so as a plant based eater I found it difficult . Staff were very nice and overall I had one of the best holiday experiences here and it was so quiet at night a huge tick for me no slamming doors in the middle of the night or annoying people partying. PERFECT and will definitely stay again.
I would not recommend the hotel. The rooms are dated and although mostly clean not well stocked up empty fridge, min accessories. Breakfast is minimal - very heavily focused on offering fried food, no fresh ingredients avocado, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.nThe staff are doing their best but with limited resources and infrastructure of the hotel - it is a real challenge.
Stopped here for one night after the ferry. Wish we'd just driven north to one of the suburbs as we paid $200 for the night and then got stung for $45 extra for valet parking or else we needed to park our car off site which we weren't keen on plus that was $25 in itself. The two beds in the room were modest sized doubles and did not fit all four of us - ie we usually have a kid plus an adult per bed on these stays and we had to put the kids on the ground on duvets. Bathroom was nice, provision of toaster and jug helped for breakfast. The room was exceptionally hot overnight despite the automatic air con that seemed to be running. Hate not being able to open a window. We were street side and it was quite noisy with sirens throughout the late evening. The saving grace was the indoor pool area, which was small, but allowed the kids to swim at 7am and burn off some steam. Very loud pool area so not suitable for sensory kids.noy being locals, didn't realize that Lampton Key was a flash area and that we'd need to walk twenty minutes to get to good restaurants and cafes. Tried to get a coffee from the ground floor restaurant in the morning for the road trip and we had to pour it down the drain as it was so very bad. Almond milk was alpro and it makes coffee sweet and bitter. I'd expect more from a big hotel
