There are more 1 stars than 2,3 or 4 stars for this Private Hospital for good reason. This is one Hospital that deserves a much lower rating. I helped my wife for 4 days, cleaning and looking after her in this hospital after she had a baby. I was given a chair to sleep on for 4 days. I was then charged a good $700 dollars for that.nnBrilliant.nnThe experience gets worse going forward from there, but that's enough from me.
I was in for day surgery yesterday and I was mainly nursed by Lyn. I can say that honestly every member of staff was amazing but Lyn went above and beyond. She made me feel cared for, listened to and heard - she advocated for me and took care of me above and beyond any other time I’ve been in hospital. I felt safe from the moment I met her and she took time to learn how I like to be called, she made sure my dietary needs were met and her attention to detail was exemplary. She was obviously busy and had a lot to do but never made me feel I wasn’t her only patient. If I ever need to be in hospital again I just hope she is my nurse. She did her job with a smile on her face.
St John of God Subiaco is an excellent hospital in my opinion. I had a bilateral oophorectomy surgery early this week. My experience was;n- Genuine care from administration to all medical staff.n- Thorough with duty of care in all aspects.n- The nurses are warm, caring, respectful and treat you as an individual not just another patient.n- The food was lovely with a good variety.nnA big thank you to the nurses on ward 44. You made the beginning of recovery very comfortable. Your kindness and passion for nursing shines. Mandy, I cannot thank you and your team enough.
My 23 month old was admitted for removal of his adenoids and tonsils. We expected to be admitted to a Pediatric ward similar to the one we’ve been to at Midland but were admitted to a regular medical ward that was mostly elderly people. The room was not set up for a baby or for myself as a boarder. I thought that having known that a baby was going to be admitted the room would’ve been set up accordingly before we arrived or at least shortly after. After he came out from recovery and we returned to our room we were told we’d be provided a cot and a fold out bed. This was around 5pm. By 9pm still nothing. My son should’ve been in bed by 7pm especially after an anesthetic. Finally we received a cot but no fold out bed for me so I had to rest on a chair as the big bed we had was removed. I put my son to sleep anyway as it was 2 hours past his bed time. The nurses tried their best but because they weren’t used to dealing with kids it made it very difficult. Food was quick to arrive but extremely average in quality which was not what I expected from a private hospital.
I felt seen, valued, heard.nEarly the morning of 9/11 ; I arrived timidity for my first ever surgery for a condition that has slowly taken me down. I felt vulnerable as I tried to be optimistic. To my absolute surprise, I was welcomed in, my most basic needs were anticipated, and made to feel comfortable every step of the way.nDesi was my first angel of many. She answered all my questions and was so intuitive with what my fears or expectations would be as we entered.nI was then met by my surgeon Dr Acton, and my anaesthetist Dr Rucklidge, who were both incredibly courteous, kind, and reassuring. The surgery was 3 hours, and from what I understand quite a feat after they worked on many vulnerable/unexpected areas.nI woke up hours later, in my room ward 44 treated by several nurses, and served by several help staff, over the course of the next 24 hours. Though I was heavily medicated and sore - I was treated with care and consideration by every single one. I felt so privileged I couldn’t resist crying.nnLife changing chronic pain, illness, and fatigue I carried in with me… I left this hospital with a renewed sense of strength, freedom and hope for continued healing in my future. The compassion and care made all the difference.nnSincerest thanks to a wonderful hospital of absolute saints.
