Located at the top of a hill just a 10 minute walk from town, the Millennium Hotel was a great place to base ourselves for our week in Queenstown. The room had two queen beds, a small desk to catch up on work and enough space so we didn’t feel on top of each other. We were on the ground floor so not much of a view, but the windows had block-out curtains which were great as I’m not anvery good sleeper.nnThe reception is on street level, but our room was on level two….downstairs! One thing I never got used to was going “up” to reception. On level one there was a nice outdoor area with chairs andntables, lovely sitting in the afternoon sun.nnBreakfast in the hotel was pretty good. We didn’t have the buffet but ordered from the menu and it was tasty enough. Dinner on the other hand wasn’t that great. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy, one large table of 8 but only a few smaller tables. Still, our meal took over an hour to come out and wasn’t cooked properly. The table next to us had a different issue with their meals being cold. No apologies or comps for anyone. Might have just been a rough night but the floor and kitchen staff were clearly frazzled for some reason. Consequently, we never had dinner there again.nnFor location and comfort, the Millennium is a great place. I just wouldn’t have dinner here, walk the 10 mins into town and choose from the many options there.
We enjoyed our stay at Millennium Hotel however had a disappointing experience with lost property afterwards.nnWe accidentally left some belongings in the hotel room closet and I called the hotel that evening after checking out. They declined to do anything, saying that housekeeping had left for the day and to call back in the morning.nnI called the next morning and they said they would need to check with housekeeping and call me back. I didn’t receive any call back so I called again in the afternoon. A new person said they would need to check with housekeeping and call me back.nnAfter no response, we finally went to the hotel luckily we were still in Queenstown, and a new person said the same thing. After stating that we had called 3 times with the same response and no action, they checked the lost property and our items had been handed in by the new guests the day prior immediately after we left.nnMillennium Hotel had not tried to make contact with us proactively, and none of the reception staff had taken any of our calls seriously. I honestly don’t understand how people get their lost property back if they have already left the city or country. They need a better process for this. I found the service very poor considering we were guests for 3 nights.
Location is fabulous, an easy walk to the centre and the beautiful gardens. Little hilly but that’s all of Queenstown. Rooms were just beautiful.nSkip the restaurant for anything besides breakfast - get out and enjoy the many better restaurants in the area. I had one dinner and with only 2 tables in the restaurant, was still forgotten.
Great Location but Very Disappointing Room ServicennI stayed with my family for 3 nights. The location was excellent and the front desk staff were helpful. The room itself was fine.nnHowever, I had a poor experience with room service. I placed a breakfast order in advance the day before to be delivered to my room the next day at 6:30 am because I needed to check out early. After waiting another 15–20 minutes with no delivery, I phoned reception, who tried to connect me to the restaurant, but no one answered. I eventually had to walk to reception myself, where staff kindly accompanied me to the restaurant.nnThe restaurant team had no record of my order, and there appeared to be a complete communication breakdown. As they were short-staffed, one staff member quickly prepared the breakfast, but I had to carry it back to my room myself.nnI hope the hotel reviews and improves its room-service procedures and communication so that future guests don’t face similar issues.
The Millennium Hotel Queenstown is in the perfect location for a walk to the park, shops or brewery. My Dad and I found the rooms were large and spacious and luxurious. Lovely views from The Observatory. Dinner was delicious. The courtyard in the middle of the hotel is open so you can see the stars at night. When the weather did not cooperate we could walk around the building inside. Very handy for my Dad. And the block is not too hilly. Gordon Bulloch is reliable, charismatic and engaging. He took control at the beginning of my escalation of woes and provided excellent results and support. A true gentleman. We look forward to returning.
