I came in with a back pain, quite severe! First and foremost let me introduce my self. I am an International student from Sri Lanka. I do not have any sort of help in Australia. Since I slipped a disc, I came to this hospital emergency for treatment and an X-Ray. I was kept in the waiting room for hours and hours. I wasn’t seen immediately. I was given some hospital outfit to wear and later told to go to the waiting room. I don’t understand how long it can take it to take an X-Ray. They kept me waiting from 3pm to almost 9.30pm 6 hours of nothing, a doctor visited me yes good, I had a very friendly nurse as well but other than that time management and service is nill. Nobody knows what’s going on. Inspite of all of this and me having an international student health cover they charged me 340 AUD which apparently I cannot claim. End of the story- this hospital is a big fat joke to me and it doesn’t deserve any kind of accolades Thank you
I had recent surgery here and it was the best experience I've ever experienced. Had many surgeries and this visit really was amazing from start to finish. Waratah ward was the best the nurses were wonderful. Thank you to everybody that helped make my stay a good one.
I was admitted for surgery at 4pm and had a private room booked. My surgery ran late and I was done at 9pm. It wasn't until after 11pm I finally got to my room. During this 2 hour wait after operating I was absolutely busting and was offered a pan to pee in. I explained to the nurse the pan was touching my bum and I didn't want to get pee all over myself and was told I couldn't use the toilet as there were no toilets outside the operating rooms. I kept offering to get up to use the toilets but was made to lay there in agony absolutely busting. It had also been 12 hours since eating anything and I was looking forward to my dinner only to be told at 11pm that I had missed dinner. I would expect paying over $3000 for an overnight stay they could at least provide some food. I did not feel my needs were understood by some of the staff here. Upon leaving the next morning it was an hour wait in the chemist for discharge medications. For a private hospital this is just not good enough and I have had better experiences in public hospitals.
Having a nurse suggest that a minister can’t be there because the patient is the ministers father is astonishingly rude and ignorant. All of the other nurses were amazing but clearly this particular nurse had issues and proceeded to do everything she could to make sure the patient didn’t have access to the care he needed and requested from an ordained minister of religion. A hospital should know better and should ensure it’s staff are trained and informed on such matters. Pity that particular nurse let the rest of the staff who had done an amazing job down.
My wife had an emergency situation at 2:00 am on 13th Aug, so I rushed her to the Knox Emergency department. There was no one at the door so I just grabbed a wheelchair at the door and pushed my wife into the reception area, because I called before we went, the receptionist knew the situation already, so she greeted us. I thought we were lucky as there was no other patient there, however my wife had to go through the interview, payment and RAT test, the procedure was around 40 minutes. The male nurse who did the interview was rude without any sympathy, as we answered his questions at the same time once, he just said “can I have one person talk at one time?”, what is the problem with this? I just wanted to answer his questions quickly on behalf of my wife because she was quite distressed due to the situation, and the interview was tedious. Now after this, we had to move to another window to pay the fees with the receptionist, more questions were asked, why couldn’t we do this at the same window at one time? Finally after I payed the fees, another female nurse came out to meet my wife, but she said my wife had to do a RAT test before she can enter the wards area, so this added another 10 minutes waiting time. If a RAT test is needed why don’t you do it in the first place? This will definitely save at least 10 minutes. I could not believe a private hospital which is charging $450 emergency services out of pocket can be worse than a public hospital. Will never use this hospital in the future. PS. One extra star is given to the 2 female nurses in the wards, they were professional and helped my wife to reduce her distress.
Finished my 4 week student nursing placement recently, so happy and impressed with my experience, the clinical facilitators are very supportive, and push to ensure you get the best learning outcome and are safe for practice. Every nurse I worked with on Tandarah was so lovely and happy to share their knowledge, even when they were busy and it slowed them down, Thank you!!
I took my very unwell daughter to ED last night. Every single staff member was absolutely amazing and helped my daughter and her emotional mum so much. Nurses and doctors are truly amazing and don’t get enough for all that they do. Thank you!
From admission to the ward, I had a fantastic experience. I ended up having to stay overnight after having a stent put in. Both Dr Goods including all his team and all the nurses in CCU were wonderful. I would have no hesitation in going back - hopefully I don’t though! : A big thankyou to all the Dr's, Nurses and all the hospital staff who are working so hard during very difficult times. You are all very much appreciated.
My younger brother broke his wrist. A clean break. We have private health insurance and apparently it’s not accepted here. We are going to be thousands of dollars out of pocket and for what? They took over an hour to just see him and demanded payment first. They made him wait for over an hour once in the emergency patient room. They asked him meaningless questions while he was screaming in pain instead of administering morphine or some pain relief. Even with the exorbitant price, they claimed there were no empty rooms so he had to stay in the emergency ward room with no entertainment. And above all else, the hospitality and compassion to both him and his family was appalling. I was waiting with my brother and nobody was attending to him. So he asked to close the curtain. I closed it for him and 3 seconds later a lady who has already proven to be to be very unkind, swiped the curtain back open and said in a harsh tone. ‘This curtain is NOT to be closed’. I said okay. She said ‘you can go now, your time is up’. I started walking out and she followed me. I simply said in a very calm tone. ‘You’re being quite rude to me.’ To that she lost her mind and started raising her voice and told me I’m never allowed to come back again.
What kind of hospital is so ill prepared for patients with Covid THREE YEARS INTO A GLOBAL PANDEMIC that they outright refuse to treat them? My housemate wanted to be admitted to KPH because he was coughing up large amounts of blood due to Covid, and they brushed him off completely and told him to go someplace else? What kind of Hospital does this? Absolutely abhorrent attitude. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever imagined a hospital denying care to a patient, especially in Victoria of all places!
