I would like to share my experience of buying a new Holden Astra R Plus at Preston motors Essendon. It was a wonderful stress free buy, the new car salesman was Andrew Smith, what a delightful, professional young man, my wife and I were very impressed with his caring kind manner. I would recommend seeing him if you are in the market for a new car, you would not be disappointed. The new Astra R plus is a car with great safety  features that you would only find in cars costing double the price, so happy in every respect with our  choice. Thank you Andrew for the wonderful service, Preston Motors was by far ahead in the price of our new vehicle. Thank you guys for a most pleasant experience.

Always extremely happy with the service at Essendon Holden.  Thank you Michael and Jason for always looking us and our cars.  Nothing is ever too much trouble and you are always very accommodating if an urgent issue arises.

I would like to leave some negative feedback regarding the recent (February 2018) unsatisfactory service I received from Essendon Holden (which will soon be Essendon Fields). 

(Just a disclaimer, I am not a mechanic nor do I have much, if any knowledge of a car and its parts.) 

I scheduled an appointment for my car to be looked at regarding a loud whirring sound. I received a call from a Jason Burgess who was the assigned service advisor for my car and he explained that the mechanic(s) had lifted the bonnet of my car and examined the engine. What was found was a leaking water pump and some pulleys that needed to be replaced. I asked if this was causing the whirring sound and he replied yes. 

He then discussed that in order to look at more of the engine to discover any further issues, the timing belt would need to be removed. He asked if I had had the timing belt replaced and that it might be a good idea to replaced it if it hadn't already. I wasn't sure, but I had all my service history in my log book in the glove box of my car. I asked him to look in the log book and inform me if he could find any information regarding this. He reported that the timing belt is normally replaced at the 90, 000 km scheduled service and he reported that my car was serviced by another mechanic in Sydney and nothing stated that it had been replaced. 

(Just to point out, I did have my timing belt replaced with my 90, 000 km service with Ralph D'Silva Holden 08/09/16. It was stated in a Holden document located in my log book folder. And I have never had my car serviced in Sydney so that was false.) 

The charge for the cost of these replacements plus labour was $1222. I was upset that it was going to cost this much but I wanted to get rid of the whirring noise as it sounded unsafe and dangerous to drive. 

The labour description on the service tax invoice stated what had been performed on the car as well as stating "road tested all ok."  But upon driving out of the dealership, the whirring sound remain. I drove it around a bit to see if it would go away but it didn't so I returned back to Essendon Holden. 

Once I returned to Essendon Holden, I liased with Jason Burgess again who took my car for a drive to diagnose why the whirring sound remained. He believed the car was making a wheel bearing noise, the left rear wheel bearing, and that I now needed to have this replaced. 

I'm sure you can understand and realise how upset and frustrated I was and still am about this entire experience with Essendon Holden. Holden is a trusted car manufacturer and dealership and I had confidence that they would be able to determine the problem with my car and fix it. 

It is truly upsetting and disheartening that the simple diagnosis of a wheel bearing issue was not identified first and that I had all of these parts of my car replaced and yet the main problem, the whirring sound was not fixed. It's unacceptable that a renowned service provider cannot distinguish the difference between an issue with a wheel bearing and an issue with an engine. It displays poor mechanic skills but moreover, it shows how substandard Essendon Holden are as a whole. 

My personal experience has made me to believe that it was all about squeezing as much money out of me as possible whilst providing below par service. 

I feel like I've been taken advantage of and this is disgusting in itself. I rely heavily on my car for transport and leaving it overnight to be serviced at Essendon Holden definitely prevented me getting around and to and from work. I am still unsure whether to drive my car due to the ongoing whirring sound and I refuse to return to Essendon Holden following this incident. 

This experience has made me so untrusting of any Holden dealerships. I will never use Essendon Holden as a service provider and I will make sure that anyone I speak to do not go there either. I will make sure I leave this negative feedback with as many review platforms as possible so no one else has to receive this unsatisfactory service.

They are helpful and cordial. Guess that's the bottomline of all of service industry but when  you drive your car in there, ypur principal mode of travel, which is at a possibility of suffering greatly, along with burning a hole in your pocket, you need that warmth all the more. It helps!
