East Coast Car Rentals - Melbourne CBD

Incredibly disappointed by the lack of professionalism and customer service. Had a car book for an 8am pick up, received a confirmation text the day before and when we arrived at 8 were told our car was on a truck and it wouldn’t arrive until 9:30. That’s fine we took a walk and came back and we’re then told our car was being offloaded from the truck. After waiting another hour we asked again and they said our car never made it onto the truck and basically said sorry you’re screwed and we don’t have a car for you. As I found this unacceptable as I had booked it 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE i requested to speak to the head office. That got someone in gear and they managed to find us a car that was nothing close to the one we reserved. After 3.5 hours of sitting around waiting we finally got in our car to head out for a trip. Lucky for us we had it for three days otherwise we would have missed all the accommodations we had booked and not seen anything we planned. Can’t imagine if someone was going on a day trip and had to wait that long for a car. No apologies or anything either. They really didn't care that they messed up our entire trip. Not worth the cheap prices.

Got the cheapest option possible and didn't need special treatment/equipment. Paid for insurance for peace of mind but honestly it wasn't that expensive. You pay for what you get, if you want a premium service where they open the door of the car as you go to pick it up then East Coast isn't for you. This is for people who want to get around and are on a tight budget. Overall was pretty happy with the experience considering what I paid. People leaving bad reviews saying service was crap should consider how much cheaper it was to rent from this company compared to other mainstream rental companies.

Made a booking with the company and rang to ensure it was the branch at the airport, as I had to travel 1.5 hours to a family funeral. Woman on the phone assured me it was. It was not. After spending $70 catching a cab from the airport to the city to get my car, instead of leaving from the airport as planned, I almost missed the funeral.

The absolute worst agency in the world. I rented a car from them last monday, used the car for about two hours before it died for no apparent reason, was treated in the worst way by the most incapable person you've ever met who tried to blame me for what happened and wanted to charge me for everything. I had to get in touch with the Brisbane office who were lovely so they could sort it out. Turns out the car just had a mechanical break down, which ruined my holiday I've been planning for a long time, and the lady working there was useless and ineffective beyond reason. Do not go there!

terrible experience. they took another $1000 claiming it was the website insurance and not their fault. the car was average, the service was average, the place it a walk from the office which was unmanned we we arrived so we had to wait, they left unlocked and computers unlocked so we could have seen other peoples info etc. I would NEVER use this company again, SCAM.
