Lone Star Spitfire

I got the gluten free nachos that ended up hurting my stomach. The nachos were bathing in oil in the bowl to the point it gave me acid reflux. The service was good but a bit pushy at times for example we got asked once how our meal was halfway through our first bite. Atmosphere was great and had a good theme but the music was loud and made it difficult to have a conversation. I wouldn’t recommend this place for my gluten free pals.

On holiday from Australia, last night here in Christchurch and headed to Lonestar for dinner. Bloody glad we did. We had an amazing dinner and it was so delicious and filling. Atmosphere was incredible and the staff were attentive and always there! Cannot wait to make a trip back and will be back for sure! Thank you so much!nWe did let the staff and manager on duty know how greta our experience was.

Group of 4 of us came in for Father’s Day lunch. We had pre-booked and were taken to our table immediately on arrival. Restaurant was very busy but the service was great and it didn’t take long to get our meals. Location is great and plenty of on-site parking.

The staff made our experience dining in, very comfortable.nThe team checked on us regularly without being overbearing.nThe atmosphere was great. There was quite a number of fellow diners, yet it was very easy to enjoy conversation.nThe meals were a good manageable size and taste wise, very enjoyable.nIt will be very easy to return to Lone Star Spitfire when returning to Christchurch.

So after a long day, all me and partner wanted was to sit down and enjoy some nice time at a restaurant. Boy did we hope too much. We walked in and found a spot next to the bar area and were immediately told to sit anywhere else as that part was closed. Couple of others were already dining there, but whatever, we moved to another spot. My partner ordered couple of drinks and told the bartender wearing cowboy hat to wait as we needed order some food as well and I was in the toilet. I came back and 2 mins later, the bartender came to our seat and asked us to pay first. We found it so rude as we had already asked for him to wait and it hadn’t even been 5 mins. Our immediate thought was to just walk out, but whatever we went and paid for drinks first and sat down. Everyone else was getting a menu and we asked for one and was told our table is reserved for 5pm and we needed to move. But we were initially asked to sit anywhere in that area and there was no reserved sign. The waitress went around and came back to let us know we can sit in that seat as she moved things around to accomodate us, which sounded so lame to us. Finally we got our food and the potato mash was like it was half done, like the potatoes were cooked and riced but missed the rest of the steps. I couldn’t eat it as it tasted so bland and half done. My partner’s ribeye tasted like rump, was asked for medium rare and it was well done. We were served by 5 or 6 waiters in the end, few of them were nice. Felt like we paid 200+ dollars for a really bad time. Never going back and absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND lone star spitfire. What a waste of money and time!!
