Copthorne Hotel Auckland City

The service staff was outstanding! The room not so much...see pictures. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned as seen by the razor we didn't bring in the shower and the mold in the shower and the bottom of the door. The room had a bolt lock that actually didn't have a hole in the door frame for it. The bed sloped down on the head side of the bed and the pillows were too big to sleep with. Not really a view from our room.nThe room itself was functional and reasonably clean. Breakfast was good. The front desk personnel and bar tenders were hard working good people filling at least 2 jobs each!

The bottom line is that I should have trusted the lowest reviews on here and chosen a different hotel. Don't make that mistake. Although the lobby and the outside look nice, this place is a dump. Yes, the rooms are extremely dated, which is actually fine. The real issue is the cleanliness. This room was questionable regarding cleanliness. Dirty towel hanging in the closet ?, debris all over the carpets, surfaces of furniture covered in gunk and every towel had hair on it. I called the front desk upon noticing the dirty bathroom and hanging towel and they did not seem surprised. The man who brought us up a stack of towels was as disheveled as the room was and didn't even apologize. ALL of those towels also had hair on them. Never again. The bed was comfortable though .... go figure.

Top service from staff. Efficient, understanding, and helpful. Rooms and general decor are probably due an upgrade, but it is comfortable. Good beds, and great aircon! Slept well, and didn't hear Construction noise at bottom of the hill on Beach Road. Handy to town, and a quick walk to Commercial Bay shops and eateries, although this hotel has a good kitchen, with regular prices. Buffet breakfast is great at $28, but you can get a good eggs Benedict for $17.

Lovely and cosy older style hotel. The bed was so comfortable and I had the best sleep that i've had in a long time. The room was a comfortable temperature but had a built in heater to use if needed. The staff here are friendly, accomodating, and approachable. I would absolutely return here.

Very enjoyable stay. We had a harbour view with a balcony the room although spotless and clean, it was in dire need of renovation it was very tired. The lobby and bar area was good. Short journey into the city by taxi.
