The food was delicious but overpriced in my opinion. We had the prawn cocktail and the top fish finest for entree. We then each had the fish of the day which was also very good. You could tell all the ingredients were fresh. The service was excellent and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Note that you have to book ahead of time, we called in the same day and the restaurant was nearly fully booked.

Staying in beautiful Stanley for a few days - Xanders was on our dinner list, after a great meal at the pub the night before. Booked a table for 7.30, as we were advised while making the reservation that a large party was coming in at 6.30. My partner and I arrived at 7.40 and there didn't seem to be a problem - a number of guests eating and the large table still hadn't received there main meals. The friendly young waitresses guided us through the food and drinks menu, advising there was no prawns, no "fish of the day" or chicken. No problems we'll find something else on the varied menu. Then like bolt of lighting the manageress appears at our table "are we ready to order", we quickly chose a nice Shiraz and asked if we could have 5 minutes to choose our meals. Very abruptly she said "no, as we are the last table in tonight". We politely asked could have just one minute to choose, she quickly replied "that it was now 7.50 and that we would have to choose right now". She grabbed our bottle of wine, we chose a main, no time to choose an entree or dessert - we were left quite stunned! Our meals arrived soon after the big group had received all of there meals. During that time, no one ever topped up or wine or water - we didn't see a soul. To be fair the food was very good but we had difficulty enjoying the experience. We have travelled extensively and dine out often, but have never come across such an aggressive and angry restaurant manager/owner. Unsure whether she wanted to go home early to catch her favourite TV show or what. We have never been pushed and faced such stubborn and unprofessional behaviour anywhere in the world." Xanders Restaurant" is not the place for a pleasant and memorable night out. From the many other reviews we have since read - we are not the first to cop the 'wicked tounge' of this locally "renowned" manageress. I think she should put her shoes on, roll up the Yoga mat and go on a holiday, before she destroys this restaurant completely.

Delicious food, some of the best we’ve had on our trip so far. Highlight was the chocolate nut tart for dessert. Price matches the quality of the food. Service was friendly. Kids meal was appropriately sized and delicious. Pencils and a colouring book provided also kept my child happy. Also, they were very accommodating to dietary requirements. Highly recommend this place.

Over $200 for 2 people and we didn't order desert... Ordered the 'crispy duck' for main, at over $40, and it was 4 shavings of duck in a huge amount of batter with sweet and sour sauce. We couldn't taste duck at all. Waited 10-15 minutes to be offered desert (no thanks), in a restaurant that only had another 2 groups. Very disappointed, as our last experience a few years ago was brilliant.
