I stayed at the flaming kiwi multiple times over the last few years and it remains the best hostel I’ve ever been to!nnThe atmosphere of the hostel is super homey and social, making it easy to make friends and feel comfortable in the common areas. I met some of my closest friends and my boyfriend while staying here.nnThe location is really great being a short walk out of town so it’s a bit quieter. All the beds have outlets, lights and curtains which are great for feeling like you have some private space while in a shared room. I also like the fact that they are private washrooms and not stalls.nnEmilia has always been super accommodating and keeps the place very clean. Can’t wait to come back again later this year!
Our private room was clean and cozy. We were provided with towels. It only takes about 5 minutes to walk to the city center, which is very pleasant and there are enough free parking spaces. The kitchen was okay, mostly clean, but a bit old. Sometimes the other guests didn't clean up, which is not the hostel's fault. The interior of the living room/dining area is a little outdated chairs are a bit stained and could maybe use a renovation, same as the bathrooms. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were not always clean and hair from shaving, for example, was not removed from the sink. The walls are also apparently very thin, as we could hear every noise our neighbors made... literally every single one. Furthermore, the WiFi is quite slow.
Amazing experience. Location is great, 3 min from town. 3 big kitchens, 2 living rooms, balcony, patio, everything great, super tidy and clean. Rooms comfortable, quiet times and amazing staff. Feels like home! Thank you!! Will definitely stay again.
Lovely hostel, and very close to the bars shops and restaurants. All staff were very friendly and helpful! Would absolutely stay again. Thank you flaming kiwi! X
Dont bother wasting your money staying here. If i could do half a star i would. I was shocked this place had so many good reviews and that they advertise it as a 4 star hotel on google which it absolutely is not! There are not enough bathrooms for the amount of people there, its very shabby looking from the dirty threadbare carpets to the absolutely disgusting and uncomfortable mattress with sheets that do not fit the beds and with curtains that only go half way see photos.nI luckily didnt use the kitchen as they werent very clean either. The whole place needs to be fixed up. The owners brother regulary stays there and has had so many complaints about him, from what staff members told me and leaves the main front door open at night for his drunk friends, so the whole place is then not secure at night. The brother Snores worse than freight train- and knows this and has had many complaints about it, but they dont care. I slept a total of 3 non- consecutive hours in 2 nights due to him. The manager blatently lied to another lady in my room about her booking a female only room, and the manager said that they dont have them. Yet i booked a female only room too, and another staff member confirmed to me that they do indeed have a female only room, but they reguarly over book it. So we ended up with the horrible brother who stank out the room with alcohol and cigarette smoke, in our room. The whole place is really noisy with traffic and people slaming doors a night. And worse is that the booking is non - refundable so even after i saw the place, i wasnt able to get my money back and everywhere else was booked out, and the place is not cheap to stay either.
