Story

Nestled in picturesque alpine scenery, Pinewood is a convenient five-minute walk away from the dynamic and energetic centre of Queenstown!

We pride ourselves in being able to offer an excellent variety of accommodation- everything from dorm beds, inexpensive double and twin rooms, deluxe en-suite rooms with private bathroom amenities and self-contained family cabins. We have 27 units spread over three peaceful acres. Even better, all of our units feature their own lounge, fully-equipped kitchens and toilet/shower facilities. Since each unit has a slightly different layout, we could easily have a room or unit to meet your individual or group needs!

This flexibility, our friendly and knowledgeable staff, coupled with plenty of open grassy areas, BBQ's (including a Hangi Pit!), off-street parking, relaxing spa, and short walk to town, makes Pinewood your ideal choice for your individual or group holidays!

The reception staff were lovely for both check-in and check-out. The room was very basic, but functional and could probably do with a re-paint. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and spacious, and we didn't find ourselves queuing for anything. We booked last minute and it was fairly good value for money. I would stay here again.
The WORST experience ever.nThe pictures they have on Expedia are totally different from the room I’ve got. The pictures are all from building G but it's fully booked so they said I cannot stay there.nnI asked to stay for only one night and refund for the rest three nights cuz it's totally different from the pictures. And their manager decided to charge me two nights, one for staying and one for the cancellation fee.nnI would not need to cancel it if they had real pictures from the beginning, because I would never have booked this. I didn't even get an apology from them.nnThey did swap me to another building with fewer people staying after I talked to the receptionist. However, the facilities are all the same in that building, and only one shower and one toilet there.nnNEVER stay here because they have free parking spots, it is totally not worth it.
An absolutely awful place to stay and horrible staff who pretend to care but actually don’t!! Booked an 4 adults p3 unit for a night on for April 30th. Checked in abit late since we did long road trip and when got up after taking a nap. There were no toilet rolls!!! Had someone in the family who had an upset tummy so called after hours multiple time and the person responded they are not on site and can only call emergency services for help! When tried to explain that we have a teenage kid who’s having an upset tummy got a response that they can’t call police for that!! When talked with receptionist in the morning, she tried to put the blame on after hours that they should have come in. Old classic blame game. Also had some batch of tourist living upstairs bathing and jumping all night. Pathetic place! Don’t go there unless you wanna ruin your holidays. Awful people, awful service.
Numerous small issues that could easily and inexpensively be fixed. On a hot day, over 25 degrees, draw the curtains and provide a fan for your new guests. Fix the door locks. Enforce a rule about quiet times after 10pm. I wouldn't stay here again.
This has by far been the biggest disappointment when it comes to accommodation in New Zealand. We paid a whooping $182 for a twin share bedroom with shared facilities, which was advertised on their website as a modern looking bedroom with two single beds and modern looking facilities. What we got was an old, smelly bedroom with 2 bunkbeds. The heater was not working. The beds were old and the top of the bunk was so low you nearly could not get into the bottom bunk. The shared shower did not have any hooks or trays to hold any soap or bathroom utensils. The hot water cylinder was not temperature regulated, so burning hot water came out of the shower which scalded my partner and another guest staying in the same shared facility. A major Health & Safety issue!!!!nnThe shared kitchen and toilet facility was outdated and grubby.nnWe are disgusted with the greed and ignorance of this tourism operator in Queenstown. Overseas owners who clearly do not care about their customers and the service they are offering in the Queenstown market. Leaving their poorly paid staff to deal with unsatisfied customers. This room should have never been rented out at $182 per night. Their website certainly did not reflect their actual offering and we were told that we were not the first customers to complain!nnShame on you Pinewood Lodge for lowering the standard of Queenstown accommodation!nnTo the owners of Pinewood Lodge - your greed is sickening!
