Really fantastic experience at the Shangri-La Cairns. From check-in to the ease of check out via the app. It was a 5 star experience all around. The lobby is huge with multiple sitting areas. The reception staff were great and helped us secure the same room when we asked for an extension for our stay. The pool area was fantastic and catered for all ages including young families. Pool bar food and in-room dining was well priced and arrived within reasonable timeframes. Very quiet in-room due to soundproofing and huge bathrooms with robes were a nice touch. Beds were super comfortable and the whole family slept great. Really looking forward to coming back. If you’re thinking of booking, just do it.
So here’s the gist - this place is extremely accommodating with absolutely fantastic customer service which is actually quite difficult to get in Cairns. They do better with in-person requests and bookings than over the phone, I found.nnThe place is open, classic mega hotel vibes with breezy entrances and a really nice buffet breakfast set up. The location is excellent. The pool is super fun and HUGE with lots of seats and shade.nnThe rooms are very spacious with excellent views.nnNegatives: the rooms are outdated and in need of maintenance. Not exactly a ritzy stay. Like it was probably due for a reno at least 10 years ago.nnBut cairns is more about adventure than opulence anyway.nnBottom line:nWould absolutely book again, especially with a group of adventure seekers or a big family.nnThe customer service is what really makes this place. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and polite. I’m very anti-tipping but this place tempted me.
We had another excellent stay at Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns. This was my second time and it did not disappoint.nnA special mention to Evelyn at the front desk, who patiently answered all my questions and went above and beyond to assist with early check in and other requests. Her service was warm, professional and genuinely helpful.nnThe location is unbeatable, right next to the Reef Terminal. After a Great Barrier Reef outing, it is just a short and easy walk back to the hotel, which is extremely convenient when travelling with a child.nnRoom service and housekeeping were impeccable. The room was spotless and ad hoc requests were attended to promptly and efficiently.nnI was also pleasantly surprised by the in room dining. My usually fussy daughter actually praised the food, which says a lot. Well done to the kitchen team.nnOverall, a consistently high quality experience. I will definitely be back again.
Location is right beside the reef boat departures and an easy walk to the Esplanade restaurants. Gym is roomy compared to others. Has free weights for my circuit training, usual cardio as well as a bench press. Love the access to pool and gym towels without having to ask. Excellent water pressure and bed. Quiet rooms and block out curtains.
We stayed here on our second stop of our honeymoon. This was a solid 4 star hotel. The lobby is beautiful, the attendants were extremely kind and helpful, bringing our bags directly to our room. Our room was gorgeous and overlooking the water. Would have given it 5 stars but the sheets felt starchy/stiff plus we didn’t get any housekeeping or water bottle refresh. The pool was beautiful and we loved the bar service. The location is nice if you want to hang out at the restaurants and shopping on the pier. If you want to go into town, it is an 5-10 min walk. Overall, there is room for improvement and some things felt outdated but we really enjoyed our stay!
