We had a great family stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Cairns. The location is super convenient—close to the Esplanade, shops, and places to eat, which made everything easy with kids. The room was clean and comfortable, and the beds were great after long days out.nnStaff were friendly and welcoming, and the warm cookie on arrival was a nice touch. The pool was a hit with the kids. Overall, a comfortable and stress-free stay—we’d happily come back!
This hotel is right position to be in easy walking distance to the sea front, harbour and a large number of local restaurants and food retailers. The hotel it's self has its own tourist information kiosk where Ann is particularly helpful and knowledgeable of all the local attractions. She is also able to equire and book all the tours including printing off the tickets, she also has a number of discount vouchers. I only had breakfast at the hotel as I was mainly away, breakfast is very comprehensive, but the que is always very large as the hotel has a policy of insisting on escorting each guest to a table. This takes a very long time even on so called quiet periods. The rooms are very pleasant, and the on site outdoor swimming pool and gym very well maintained.
Veiws and room service were spectacular! My husband and I booked for our anniversary through a lovely lady named Brylee and she was absolutely amazing! no detail was spared, from the first call down to every need and enquiry that followed, she went above and beyond for us.nI will definitely be booking all business conference rooms for our staff and clients through her and doubletree Hilton in future.nYou have won a long term loyalty member out of us.
We booked the hotel just for a 1 night stay for our family, during our travel stopover. I initially booked Rydges but then changed for Hilton thinking it would be a better choice. It was quite disappointing. Our room although ok in layout and a nice view, had a horrrible damp smell and the smell coming out of the aircon vent was even worse. What more breakfast was most frustrating. The scrambled eggs ran out and didn’t get replenished for over 30min! We asked repeatedly different staff who were just hopeless. We wouldnt have been bothered had there been another egg station for fried or poached eggs but there wasn’t. They had an Omelette section, made in waffle tins, operated by 1 lady, who was super slow and each omelette took 10min to be cooked! Line was 10+ deep and hardly moving. We gave up and had no eggs at breakfast what should have been a basic staple provision - this should not be the case in a 4+ star hotel. It just looked like the whole restaurant organisation was poorly managed. I expected the basics to be better and wish we went somewhere else.
The hotel is conveniently located just two streets away from the main restaurants and cafés, making it easy to enjoy the local dining scene without being in the middle of the hustle and bustle. This small distance actually works to its advantage, as the area around the hotel is much quieter and more peaceful, allowing for a restful night’s sleep after a busy day of exploring or working.nnThe staff are incredibly kind and attentive — they checked on me several times throughout my stay to make sure everything was perfect. They listened carefully to my requests and even surprised me with a warm cookie, which added such a personal and thoughtful touch. Their friendliness made me feel genuinely cared for and created a welcoming atmosphere from the moment I arrived.nnThe room itself is cozy and well-decorated, with a comfortable bed, clean linens, and a relaxing atmosphere that makes it ideal for either a romantic escape or a short business trip. Everything felt spotless and well-maintained, and the amenities provided were just what I needed to feel comfortable and relaxed.nnI also appreciated how smoothly the check-in process went and how the staff made me feel at home. Overall, my experience exceeded expectations, and I’ll definitely come back — it’s the kind of place that makes you feel comfortable, cared for, and completely at ease.
