PositivesnAmazing location, a 2 minute walk to the esplanade. Nice food at the restaurant with decent prices. Pool and swim up bar was excellent. Staff were generally friendly and helpful. Seemed to have lots of fun stuff happening for kids as it was school holidays. Room was a little old but it didn’t matter because it was very clean and neat and had everything you needed.nnDownfallsnStayed for 9 nights. 2 out of those nine we had our dirty towels taken and no clean ones brought back. Had to go to reception after 2 long days and wait for them to bring us fresh towels so we could have a shower.nThe restaurant had really nice food but we waited over 45 minutes one night for our food. Staff were very apologetic.nHad a room on the ground floor, right near the pool and elevator. It was a shared balcony with the room next to us, with a table and one chair for us to use, so we had to borrow a chair from next doors every time we wanted to sit outside.nEvery morning we woke up at around 6 ish with kids screaming outside our room, heading off to the pool out for the day not blaming them at all you could just hear absolutely everything from the room.nnOverall, I would stay here again but would definitely request a room off the ground floor to avoid the foot traffic outside the door and so you could potentially have your own balcony.
My family of 4 absolutely loved our stay. We stayed during the school holidays and we were surprised with all of the free activities that were put on for the kids!!nThey loved doing Zumba in the pool, making necklaces in arts in craft and being brave enough to hold the snake at Breakfast with the Animals.nMum and Dad enjoyed the swim up bar and happy hour. All of our needs were met and we could definitely recommend those with kids to stay here.nOnly downfall was the split system aircon in our room. Felt like it was working overtime with the amount of people in the property. We had it on the lowest temperature and it still wasn't as cold to our liking.
Some great things about this hotel but some frustrations too.nn- awesome pool, great size. But not enough pool chairs for the size of the pool/number of hotel guests so you feel you have to race to the pool to get a seat.n- internet/wifi never seems to work. Had issues with it and gone back to 5G the last 6 days. Not helpful for international travellers who rely on the wifi.n- rooms a great size and don’t feel crammed with suitcases on the floor.n- showers nice and hot and good pressure -this is a key for me!n- great location - two blocks from the esplanade, only like 7min walk so super close. And then 3 blocks from the central shopping centre and Kuranda scenic railway.n- one lift has been broken the whole time so meant slow to get to your room or reception during peak hours. Annoyingly no note on the lift to advise patrons, I had to ask if there was an issue and they said they’re waiting on parts.n- great size fridge if you want to store some food in there no mini bar taking up space.n- didn’t have the buffet breakfast as it was too $ and not included, so gave it a miss.n- great to have the swim up bar/food available by the pool.n- Pool open too late for my liking, trying to get my daughter to sleep and could hear playing and screaming from kids and adults drinking /playing in the pool at 9:30pm.n- my daughter left her soft toy and pyjamas on the bed and we returned to a note saying they couldn’t make our bed as they weren’t allowed to touch our belongings - never had that at a hotel before. Also had towels taken by house keeping but not replaced, so a little odd.n- had some fun activities for kids during the school holiday period, including craft, movies and sandcastle competition building note, no kids club specifically which I read somewhere.n- check-in process okay but at 2pm core check-in time only 2 of the 4 stations were open, so very slow. Not ideal after a 5am alarm and hours of travel.n- I would stay again if I came back.
The stay was lovely. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly; room was very clean; location was an easy stroll to town, bus stop, esplanade. Pool was lovely but very busy and noisy with kids at peak times. Great family location and was lovely to see them having a great time but if you’re looking for a holiday without this, you may need to consider a different location. My only criticism is that the pool lounge chairs are not very comfortable. Everything else was great.
One of the best buffet breakfast ever! Check-in took a bit of time but he was a trainee and the computer was a bit slow so that's okay. It's walking distance to most things in the city. Very family-friendly so I would highly recommend it for people wanting a full holiday out of Cairns.
