Had a great experience at Prince of Wales Hospital. Receptionist was lovely and chatty, everything was clean, and I got really good care. But huge shoutout to intern Miranda from ED—she was incredibly kind, professional, and just the sweetest person. She honestly made the whole visit better. Thank you!
Attended public Day Surgery today for repair of a complex foot fracture. Arrived 7am and left at 7pm. All staff clerical, cleaners, receptionists, porters, nurses, doctors, surgeon, physiotherapist and occupational therapists were pleasant, knowledgeable, thoughtful and skilled. And it was a ridiculously busy day. Outstanding care. Thankyou.
I’m currently in the cardiac ward. Although Medicare would happily cover everything, Prince of Wales ask you to use your health cover to help them out. I did this and am now stuck in a room with three men even though their website says that if you are in a mixed ward, they will relocate you to a same-sex ward within 24 hours. The television doesn’t work see box taped to wall. They’re very apologetic but they know this has been the situation for a long long time and nobody is going to do anything about it. Staff are very friendly but incredibly forgetful you can ask three nurses for a glass of water, but you’ll never get it. Ask for the light to be turned off so you can nap won’t happen. I should’ve gone to St Vincent’s through the emergency department and ask to be moved to the private hospital
I am very disappointed with the service. My husband was there yesterday night at around 8:30 pm. He was in emergency department. He was there with minor cut on his finger. He waited whole night and got dressing at around 5:00 am in the morning. They asked him to visit next hospital after all that. I am not upset with the referral but they made him wait for another 3 hours to give referral paper. We left hospital at around 9:30 am this morning. He spent approximately 12 hours on the chair. I feel sorry for health care teams members. I am sure they were short staffed. It's not their fault but I think management should give more attention in patient's needs. POW is considered as one the most reputed hospital. At least try and offer rest areas for night patient rather than just chairs.
I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at the Prince of Wales Hospital. I arrived at the emergency department around 9 p.m. with chest pains, a concern I felt required prompt attention. However, despite my serious symptoms, I ended up walking out at 2 a.m. without being seen, while several patients who arrived after me were attended to.nIt’s incredibly frustrating and disheartening to witness this level of disregard for patient care, especially in a situation as serious as chest pains. The wait times were far beyond what I had expected or experienced in the past. In previous visits, I was treated within a few hours, even during busy periods, but this time, the delays were not only long but also felt unfair and disorganized.nI understand that emergency rooms can get busy, but it’s disheartening to see how our healthcare system is struggling. When it comes to something as critical as chest pain, patients should be treated with more urgency, and it’s clear that this system needs a serious overhaul to prioritize patient care and reduce these unacceptable wait times. I’m left feeling frustrated and let down by the hospital, and I hope improvements are made for the sake of those who truly need timely care.nAlso the seating is so uncomfortable that two days later I still have pain in my back from sitting there for hours.nNext emergency I will be driving to RPAnPrince of Wales emergency is nothing but a glorified GP office
