Located in the heart of Southgate, P.J.O'Brien's is one of Melbourne's longest standing authentic Irish pubs and a favourite destinations for locals and visitors. Whether you are after a quiet beer, a comforting meal, after-work drinks served with freshly shucked oysters or all of the above with some excellent LIVE music, we have you covered every single night of the week.

Adjoining the pub is P.J's Sidebar, open seven days and nights a week as an oyster and whiskey bar and available to hire for private and corporate functions. With an exclusive private area overlooking the lower deck (which is also available for private hire) and fabulous function menus this is the perfect venue for intimate occasions through to breakfast meetings and corporate gatherings.

Booked a table for lunch on Easter Sunday with my sister. The staff instantly made the extra effort needed for the wheelchair. I ordered the Brisket and my sister ordered the seafood chowder. Both were flawless and reasonably priced. Brisket is a very unforgiving cut. The Guinness here tastes good. Unlike many places in the southern hemisphere were it can taste slightly off. 
Oysters are fresh and staff work their arses off. 
Will visit again.

My wife and I enjoyed a great value meal here today. I had the fish and chips and she had the seafood pasta meal. Great value lunch specials for $18 which included a drink (beer, wine or soft drink). Friendly, efficient service was welcome. We have dined here before and will be back again. Keep up the quality service and food.

Very nice and cozy pub with a great atmosphere. The starters are quite good, I really enjoyed the wedges with curry sauce. The mains here have been fairly average and a fair bit overpriced though.

I'd highly recommend this joint for drinks with snacks, but if you're looking for some good meals I'd say look elsewhere.

I've had the pleasure of enjoying what PJ O'Brien has to offer. This place has the works the authentic brand of Irish and it almost feels like you are there fro the live band to the staff who are very forthcoming and honest. I would definitely recommend PJ O'Briens for a family outing or to just chill with your girlfriend's.

Brilliant atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff, good range of drinks on tap, and decent menu with good sized portions.

Perfect for lunch, or after work drinks.
