Needed a rear spoke replacement for a Zipp Wheelset and I'd heard Jetnikoff were some of Melbourne's best when it comes to wheel building and servicing. Boy, was I misinformed. I only needed a new spoke on one wheel however these guys decided to just go ahead and work on the front as well, even after specifically asking them to leave it alone. This in itself is something I would generally let slide as I know miscommunications can happen in a customer service environment. That being said however, the final bill finally came to nearly twice what I was originally quoted with a complementary 30 minute 'debate' with the owner who insisted they'd done the right thing and I was so 'obviously' in the wrong. After all of this we ended up meeting half way and Mr Jetnikoff asked me to come back in half an hour so they could run a final 'checkover' of the wheels. I thought this was strange because the work had already been done but satisfied we had came to a solution I did as he said. When I returned, was served by an entirely different woman with the owner nowhere to be seen, paid and was on my way though no less than 200km worth of riding on the wheels later the very same spoke snapped. Brought it to another bike shop and was informed that ALL the spokes on both wheels were vastly undertightened (I can guarantee this was not the case prior to this incident as they were checked professionally earlier that month). Sound a bit suspicious to you?

Had a rush job to tune up a rear wheel custom build that had a bit of a wiggle introduced. I'm a heavier bloke and still like to ride quality bits which does occasionally put a strain on the relationship. William slotted me in to a busy schedule and had the wheel back to me overnight. Very happy with the service, price for service and customer relationship. Will definitely back for any wheel related services.

Not the most pleasant experience. After taking almost two weeks for the parts to arrive the final cost was way too high. Im not sure where they source the parts but it was very unusual. Not happy 😞 Update: Just one day before the race i realized the derailer pulleys are completely worn out and i had to replace them myself! This is shocking as they didn't check it. Would never go there again.

Had my "crabon" bike service here every time before a major ride, William and Robbie also managed to fit an extremely difficult and finicky exotic bottom bracket to my Moser vintage steel bike (with the help of a PhD candidate no less!) and they're putting together for me a French steel roadie. I think, my dear reader, that the general picture here is that I trust these guys with the life of my precious two-wheeled "children". Apart from that, you couldn't find a nicer bunch of people to talk bike and life with!

Overpriced, lying staff, and incompetent mechanics. I had a new bike made here. The final cost was $300 more than the quote, but they only told me after it was completed, and too late to complain. They lied about the quality of multiple components during selection, and when the bike would be completed. They are hardly ever open. Their advertised opening hours are a joke. The cost of the bike included twelve months "free servicing". I had a problem that they introduced and were going to fix. When I picked up the bike, the owner told me that the mechanic had left for the day, and he had no idea what he had done. However, he then charged me $80 for the supposed fix… even though I later realised the problem was still there. I also had a recurring problem with the brakes that I came back for half a dozen times. They could never fix it. The final straw was when they messed up my brakes so much, that during a routine gradual deceleration, while approaching traffic lights on Sydney Road, I locked up and slid under a truck. Fortunately I was only hurt a little, but it's just not worth risking their incompetence any more. **UPDATE** After taking my bike to three other bike shops, my brakes were finally fixed by Commuter Cycles. Apparently, Jetnikoff had simply used an incompatible adaptor for the brake. They must've read the instructions correctly. In any case, they should have realised their error on one of my many trips back, because I had complained about the rotor rubbing against the pads and, even worse, the *nut* that held the adaptor on. They were never able to fix either problem satisfactorily. In fact, the nut had started wearing down on one side from the constant friction with the rotor. Do yourself a favour and go to a store that listens to their customers, and has some pride in their work. It's just not worth the risk.
