Had a wonderful long weekend. Was able to check-in early as the room was ready instead of leaving luggage until check-in time which was lovely.nnReception staff were all very friendly and helpful.nnWill certainly book again when next in Sydney.nnHighly recommend staying here.
This hotel is an an amazing location if you are travelling with children. There is only 1 quiet 1-way street to cross and you are in a fully walkable precinct with plenty of food options, parks, playgrounds, Chinese Gardens and a totally traffic free walk to sea life, wax museum and wild life. Our 2 queen room was pretty dated but bathroom was updated and clean, plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children, breakfast buffet was good but very busy. Some staff were amazing and very helpful, others acted like they didn't even want to be there. Overall was a great location and would certainly stay there again. Wasn't fussed about the room not being serviced daily, we just asked for our bins to be emptied when we seen staff in the hallway, we hung our towels up so they were dry by the evening and made our own beds. Wasn't an issue. You can ask for your room to be serviced everyday if you wish.
The wheelchair accessible room is one of the most spacious we've encountered. Excellent choice of minimal, lightweight furnishings perfect for function and able to be easily moved as needed. Temperature controls at accessible height. Room lights and reading lights within reach from bed. The bathroom was well equipped with drop-down shower bench and low sink with room for knees beneath. However the bathroom mirror is mounted too high on the wall to use from seated position and the soap/shampoo dispensers at basin and in shower are wall-mounted unable to be removed and out of reach from seated position. The glassware is also shelved beyond reach and the carpet in the room is quite plush making for difficult wheeling. Bathroom tiles a bit slippery when wet, fortunately we travel with our own grippy floor mat for safety when showering. An extra handrail between toilet and shower bench would be recommended for safety. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Minimal street noise heard from 3rd floor room, minimal incidental noise heard from adjacent rooms but quite noisy in the hall at times from passing guests' conversations. Morning buffet is quite good value for a big feed but there are lots of alternative options very close by for lighter options. Best feature of this property is its location - very central to lots of great eateries and easy walking/rolling distance to lots of shopping and sights including Gallery NSW and pedestrian only precinct to Darling Harbour. A cutting in the curb at the front of the property in the pick up/drop off bay would be helpful for wheelchair access and specific instructions in the accessible room regarding wheelchair-specific emergency evacuation procedure would be a good idea. We would be happy to stay at Furama Darling Harbour again in the future.
First of all, the location is very good, located in Haymarket near all the shops in Chinatown, very accessible and close to QVB, Sydney Opera House etc. The service was exceptional, we were taken care of by Mr Imran and Mr Azis, both of them were very accommodating and welcoming! Very glad we stayed here and would definitely stay here again Rooms were big and spacious too!
We stayed here in January 2024 for a family trip to Australia. We had 3 rooms booked when the hotel was still known as Holiday Inn. The pictures on the web portals were impressive but the hotel itself is old and rooms lacked modern facilities.nnOur checkin took long time and even then, one of the rooms that was provided had to be changed due air conditioning issues. Further, the rooms had old run down carpets, bathrooms in need of urgent upgrades and hallways looking they would need fresh paint and carpets. The housekeeping staff trying to keep up with volumes of summer business looked understaffed . Rooms were made up once in 3 days. Breakfast was okay but most days menu was the same.nnThe plus point is convenient location to walk in to Darling Harbor and get trams etc. Overall, the hotel needed lot of work and I hope change of ownership has helped with it.
