Don’t waste your time or money coming here. Wish we had checked the reviews before bothering with this place. Their window displays a $25 price for men’s haircuts but my partner was charged $30 after receiving a horrible haircut. He questioned the $25 price on the window, the first woman looked over to a second woman and the second woman said the price has gone up but they haven’t changed the stickers on the window. My partner ended up going back to this place to ask them to fix his haircut or for a refund but the lady didn’t want to give a refund even though she said there wasn’t much she could do to fix the haircut because the first lady had stuffed it up. He asked for a simple number 0 clipper on sides with a number 3 on top and blended, if the lady could not do the hair cut that was fine but explain to my partner that you can’t do it instead of trying and stuffing it up and then charging him more than your displayed price!
Went in to get my fringe trimmed - I checked twice before she cut my hair that she understood what I wanted, she told me both times that she did and that I shouldn’t worry. I walked out with the exact opposite of what I asked for, and the lady cutting my hair just awkwardly laughed about it when I explained this to her. No means of apology for the fact my fringe is way too short and looks like a 5 year old hacked at it. Do not come here.
Note: Hidden fees and charges. I booked an appointment for a trim and was advised not to worry about washing my hair because it could be done for me. A towel wasn't placed around my shoulders, so the back of my shirt was wet. The hairdresser was quite rough; pulled my hair and head around and kept covering my ears with shampoo, then filling them with water to rinse them. I was asked if I wanted layers cut into my hair, to which I reluctantly agreed because I didn't want too much taken off. Just before finishing, I was asked if they were drying my hair. As my hair was saturated and it was a cold morning, I said, "Yes, but I don't need it styled. I just don't want to go out in the cold with wet hair." It was then blow-dried on a high heat without the use of a brush. I got to the counter afterwards and was asked for $50. I asked for clarification, as I was under the impression it was only going to be $30. Turns out: there is a surcharge for washing, a surcharge for layers, a surcharge to have it dried and a surcharge because it was a Saturday. At no point through the booking process, waiting for the hairdresser who arrived to work 15mins late with little apology or discussion throughout the wash/cut/dry was any of this information provided. There are no signs to stipulate prices and no information on the website. The cut was "good." Not great. It certainly wasn't even a $50 haircut. But a little honesty would go a long way. Perhaps, upon booking, it could be a standard question to ask, "Have you been to our salon before? Do you know our pricing structure?" It could then be outlined that a base charge for a female client is $30. If you need your hair washed it's this much. If you'd like more than a basic trim/cut it will be this much. If you'd like us to dry it for you it is this much. Then I wouldn't have walked out feeling I had been completely deceived.
Paid $95 to colour my hair from bleached blond to chocolate medium BROWN as she promised. Came out literally BLACK as she left it on for too long - the alarm went off for 10 mins before she came back.She then argued it is not black and that I’ll have to wait for my hair to fade ?. Seek professional opinion and it IS black. Not helpful, not friendly, not professional. Definitely not coming back and not recommend. Would rather pay somewhere a bit more but get it done well because it is your hair after all.
Are you even qualified hairdressers???Went in for a blow wave.. Hair washed with cold water, scalp burnt from hairdryer. I asked for fullness at the crown and back. It was disgusting. My A-line bob looked like a tent. Flat on top, full and rounded at the ends, no A-line shape at all and definitely no height at the crown despite her offering to 'fix it'.I wish i had a paper bag to put over my head walking out, it looked ridiculous and a complete waste of my time and money. Never again.
Have been coming here for over a year and find the staff friendly and usually competent using good equipment. Like any hairdresser it depends on who you get on the day. They have a loyalty card that offers a free cut a certain number of visits. Nice touch. From what I have seen there have not been any problems with other customers.
The absolute worst hair experience of my life. DO NOT GO HERE! I had my hair coloured with a half head of foils on Friday and cut. Unfortunately the girl who did my hair, made my roots bright orange with thick light blonde foils. Totally not what we had discussed. I was told I would adjust to the “golden colour” and that I wasn’t used to it because my hair had ash blonde foils in it before... umm incorrect. It’s orange. I was really unhappy with the result as it wasn’t what we had discussed at all and was quite expensive $230. Saturday I went back to talk to the manager and have it fixed. She said they don’t do refunds, which is joke but they could tone back the roots with an ash and that would counteract the orange in my hair. I agreed that would be fine. I spoke to hairdresser again and agreed I was happy with this approach but did not want to go dark. Hazel assured me she would only leave the toner on for a maximum 7 minutes so it would not go dark. I ENDED UP WITH NO BLONDE FOULS JUST ORANGE ROOTS AND DARK BLUE HAIR!!! I am really upset with the result. I’m getting married in a few months and have now had to spend another $200 just to have the blue removed from my hair and the orange calmed down at another salon. My hair is very damaged as a result & have been advised it will probably cost me another $1,000 to get my hair back to where it was beforehand. This is so upsetting and disappointing. I trusted the team to help me with my hair and it’s just cost me so much money. I would really like a refund and for the blue removal to be paid for. I shouldn’t have to pay for fixing the mistakes of one of your hairdressers! The worst part is that I’ve emailed the salon and had NO RESPONSE! Definitely do not go to this salon. They have no idea what they are doing!!!
They don't know how to cut fringes or layers. All the techniques you see at other salons - uncrossed your legs, lining up the ends of your hair in front your face to check the lengths, feathering, etc - absolutely none of that. Very unhappy. Will have to go to another salon to get it fixed up once it's grown out a bit.
Absolute garbage. Untrained butchers! They don't actually listen to what you ask for, they just try and cut your hair in 4 snips... 1 each side, a chunk at the back, and another snip at the top. All while getting poked in the eye with the handle of the scissors and the comb. Terrible experience all round. There's cheap hairdressers who actually still care. Not the team at Just Cuts Northland. They've all got somewhere better to be.
Don't see what the problem is... I've been coming here for over 10 years, its always a decent experience. Usually fast, quite cheap, never had a bad cut. Perfect place for anyone who just wants a haircut.
