I visited the Consulate General of Indonesia this morning for my passport renewal appointment at 9:35 AM, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing.nnWhen I arrived, only 1 out of the 4 counters for passport renewal was open. By the time I was called, it was already about 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment.nnDuring the document check, the staff member reviewed my visa history and saw that I previously held a subclass 866 visa, which I have already withdrawn. I explained that I am currently on a partner visa pathway. Initially, the staff member refused to assist me, stating that they would not help applicants holding a subclass 866 visa. While I understand there may be policies regarding certain visa types, I am still an Indonesian citizen and should have the right to renew my Indonesian passport.nnAfter I showed proof of my newest visa, the staff member eventually accepted my application. However, I was then told that my passport would not be processed until my new visa becomes active in about 30 days. Even though the visa will automatically become active and there is certainty that I will hold that visa, I was instructed to email proof after 30 days before the passport can be printed. This felt unnecessarily complicated.nnThe biometric and photo process was also uncomfortable. The officer assisting with fingerprints appeared visibly frustrated because my fingerprints were difficult to capture due to my dry hands. She expressed her frustration openly with sounds like “ckk” and “ahh,” which made me feel quite uncomfortable. I was repeatedly asked to use hand sanitiser to moisturise my fingers. At one point, she used her finger covered with tissue to press down hard on my finger to capture the biometric scan. I personally think this is quite rude and upfront.nnLastly, if applicants want their passport mailed back to them, they are required to purchase an envelope from Australia Post for $12, which is about an 8-minute walk from the consulate. The consulate does not provide the envelope on-site which I think this is something to be considered. This means applicants must leave the building, walk to Australia Post, buy the envelope, and bring it back. Even the staff at Australia Post immediately recognised it and asked, “Oh, this is for the Consulate General of Indonesia?” which felt quite embarrassing.nnOverall, the process felt unnecessarily complicated and the service experience could be significantly improved. As a citizen seeking a basic consular service like passport renewal, I expected a more respectful and efficient process towards.
I went there for my renewal passportnI was very impressed that Konjen now has a very amazing service. The staff are friendly and nice.. they always asks if you need any help, the service were excellent. does not take long for doing anything they have a printer. Thank you for your outstanding services.
I came here to do some work for them and the Indonesian people are beautiful and humble souls. I met most of the staff who were working outside and the security guard and the driver and they were beautiful to deal with and we’re lovely and kind people.the place was very tidy and had a pleasant smell inshallah one day I can visit Indonesia
Thank you to the Consulate General of Indonesia in Sydney for the outstanding service. The team was extremely helpful, kind, polite, and handled everything in a very effective and efficient manner. A special thank you to Pak Fachryan and Pak Ichsan for their exceptional support and professionalism. Truly a great experience—much appreciated!
Extremely rude and passive-aggressive staff! Lost my receipt to pick up my passport but got the confirmation email, complete with the reference number and my name on it. Also brought my ID Card too. Then the staff male said, “jangan dibiasakan ngilangin kwitansi”. Like seriously? How often I re-new my passport? “Kebiasaan” as if he knows me? They had system, sending me email and stuff but still want to stick with the old-fashioned way? Why do they always try to make everything complicated? What do they need to verify? Verify my payment? I wouldn’t get any email confirmation if I hadn’t pay, right? My details? Everything is on emailnnAnd before I left, one of the staff mid-aged woman from counter 1, said literally like this “lain kali blokir aja paspornya ga usa diperpanjang” all of sudden. Tbh i don’t know who was she referring to. Since there were some people waiting. Probably me, probably the man that she served before. Honestly, I don’t care if such comments are made after working hours or in a private area. However, saying them while on duty, in immigration service office, AND in front of people who are waiting is extremely unprofessional and offensive. It is, quite simply, INSULTING. You get paid using Indonesian citizens’ taxes money btw and if you hate your job that much which you should be grateful maybe just quit!nnWhat I’m trying to say is, in workplace there’s CODE OF ETHICS! And about immigration matters, not everyone understands about it like you do as the staff. That’s why you being hired to help and guide people, NOT insulting and talk back to people! Whoever manages the KJRI employee, PLEASE train your employees how to control their MOUTH AND BEHAVIOUR to be more professional! Perbaikin tutur kata dan sikap! Don’t feel superior just because you are working there! You are not working for free anyway
