The Capri is a heritage listed, Art Deco cinema, run mostly by a network of generous volunteers.

Story

The Capri is an independent not-for-profit cinema run by a network of generous volunteers. Built in 1941, it is heritage listed and houses the Theatre Organ Society’s unique world class theatre pipe organ.

The profit from every ticket you buy goes back in to the restoration of this iconic South Australian building and the WurliTzer organ.

Why not come along for a bit of old world atmosphere and see the organ rise out of the stage and play in the evening session on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, 15 minutes before the scheduled screening time.

A grand old theatre with the smells reminiscent of the glory days.nThe volunteers do an excellent job of keeping this theatre running.nBeing able to buy Haighes Chocolates or a Golden North chocolate topped icecream lovingly made by the volunteers just adds to the pleasure and ambience.nThe Wurlitzer organ rising from the stage and played for 15 minutes prior to the films is just magical - a 'real' blast from the past!
This beautiful heritage Capri theater takes you back in time as soon as you step inside. From watching awesome movies to viewing the grand Wurlitzer organ being played it’s certainly highly memorable!
We saw Wild Robot, it was a good experience...nIt's a theatre built a long, long time ago... well maintained... they have tried to preserve how it looked when it was built... It definitely takes you back in time...nSeats could be better... but overall, we had a good time...
Take a walk back in time to rekindle memories of the old cinemas, the beautiful architecture and the great designs of yesteryear. The atmosphere is always crackling with excitement and nostalgia.
Most beautiful cinema I've ever gone to. Classy and elegant with lovely staff. Only down side was there were no healthy food available, but I'll visit again without a doubt.
