Cairns Airport

I really liked the staff in general. They were very friendly and smiling comparing to many Australian airports. The baggage drop counter was closed when I arrived but the staff at the service desk immediately checked me in. The airport is clean with adequate number of seats. The signage are not well designed and you need to look for them. They number of shopping outlets at the terminal is low considering that it's an international airport. Commuting to and from airport is very easy and there are enough transportation options to choose from.

Lots of great restaurants and you can sit in the middle and see all the gates. It was probably a little shinier and more polished than the rest of Cairns was!

Partner and I had a bit of a wait so lets have a drink, no eftpos and correct change unbelievable, hope you enjoyed counting all the change. A $50 isn't going to cut it so its going to have to be 1 and only one drink. The pits. Catch up to the real world Cairns.

Recently a visitor to Cairns airport. must say the dirtiest airport Ive ever been too. Small cafe area at check in ..filthy! lady behind counter NOT interested in cleaning at all. we had to clean table, remove rubbish and wipe with own cloth. Service n other areas once through security - disrespectful, it was if WE were the intrusion???

Lack of common sense by staff, and also received rude service by an employee of a coffee shop at the end of the departures hall. One set of bags of our party were 5m away from the main group to keep out of the way of other travellers. Employee asked if the bags belonged to anyone, and people in our group said yes and offered to move them with the main group. She said no and proceeded to call security and apparently police, and a call was made over the P.A for one of the group to come from the other side of the airport to move a bag 5m. The employee then laughed at members of the group who's bag it was, stating it was "common sense" and there were announcement about unattended baggage. In the 2 hours prior that we were at the airport there were no announcements and zero signage in the terminal. Compared to Launceston, there are signs everywhere and announcements constantly. After raising this, we noticed there were announcement every 30 minutes. Another staff member came out of his way to be aggressive and threatening about the issue at hand After the incident, there were other bags being left unattended for extended (and longer) periods of time, of which we have go pro video footage of. Understandable that it is an offence to leave unattended baggage, but the unprofessional, uninformative and inconsistent service provided was appalling.
