Gold Coast Alpha Car Hire has great customer service and super cheap rates for well maintained vehicles. I have used them now 3 or 4 times and I always find them very professional. Even the slight inconvenience of the town pick-up location is no big deal with their regular shuttle bus.  Highly recommended.

Dear Alpha Car Hire Gold Coast Airport Team,nnI am writing to formally lodge a complaint about the troubling experience I had with your service during my recent car rental at Gold Coast Airport.nnI made a reservation for a car rental, including the purchase of insurance for peace of mind, through Booking.com. Upon arriving at Gold Coast Airport on 15th March 2025, I was assisted by a trainee staff member. Due to her computer crashing, there was a delay, and I was later informed that the car allocated to me had not been serviced, so a replacement car would be provided. I had no issue with this and understood the situation.nnHowever, when the car was handed over, the staff inquired about my insurance. I confirmed that I had already purchased insurance through Booking.com, but a second staff member explained that the insurance I had was tied to Booking.com's policy and would not cover anything in the event of an accident. She told me that if I did not take the insurance offered by Alpha Car Hire, I would be liable for an excess fee of $5,000. Although I was initially confused, as I am from New Zealand and had never encountered such a situation before, the staff member’s forceful and authoritative explanation led me to believe that I needed to purchase additional insurance. As a result, I paid for the insurance and rental, thinking it was necessary for full coverage.nnOn 18th March 2025, after reviewing the insurance documentation from Booking.com, I contacted your team for clarification. I spoke with Tanya, who was extremely rude and unhelpful. She refused to listen to my explanation and insisted it was my responsibility to cross-check the insurance details. Tanya claimed that the trainee staff member had done her best but ultimately blamed me for not verifying the information, despite me stating that I had already arranged insurance.nnWhen I requested to speak with a senior manager, Tanya refused and claimed that no one else could assist me. I was left feeling misled, frustrated, and disrespected due to the lack of accountability. Subsequently, I contacted Booking.com and spoke to a representative who confirmed that I had been treated unfairly and assured me the matter would be escalated to higher management.nnThe misleading information and poor service I received from your team led to me being overcharged for unnecessary insurance. I expect Alpha Car Hire to take full responsibility for this.nnFrankly, I feel that tourists are being taken advantage of in this situation. Although the staff who picked us up and dropped us off at the airport were very kind and helpful, the overall experience was disappointing and reflects poorly on your company. I trust you will take this matter seriously and address it accordingly.
