I completed a car transfer for Yes Rentals. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle in Queenstown, it had recently been in a car accident with multiple dents, a smashed back window, and a cracked windshield. It was also very dirty with half empty water bottles, used tissues and food scraps. In exchange for agreeing to take the damaged vehicle, as is, the office suggested I would get a free tank of gas, despite the contract saying I would return it full. Upon delivery, I was told they would not honor this bargain provided by the pick up office and demanded I fill the tank. The vehicle was not secure and leaked water heavily during my transfer. I was unable to properly transport my belongings, and if I had declined the vehicle at pick up, I would have been charged a cancelation fee. I did not receive very good service and was lied to.

We have used this car rental company a couple of times whilst visiting NZ & always found them to be friendly with great deals. The cars are a little dated, but the Aqua we hired was very fuel efficient.

Thank you so much for providing us an economical car - it was blue too! Thank you for providing a phone holder too - useful to use GPS as we travelled in South Island. Highly recommend!

Great service from the staff, pickup from the airport and return was smooth. The car I got had no parking features but was overall decent for a city runner.nn3 stars cause the website allowed me to book with insurance as a cheap rate which was only applicable for NZ/AU license, this was not mentioned and only made known to me 2 days prior to pickup. Deposit was already taken and it was too late to book another company, hence the actual cost with full insurance was similar to bigger firms.nnI feel this is something which needs to be mentioned during the booking, by taking my deposit and not highlighting this evident fact on the website its not ideal at all.

Flight was delayed and we were literally one minute late, so they charged us $45 for a shuttle to the rental place, they also tried giving the guy before us a worse model even though they had the model he paid for and even worse, they charged both of us $45 instead of splitting it. They ended up charging us the price again, even though we had already paid for it. The picture on the website was completely different to the model, the picture much better than the model, the car was really old, Probsbly second hand and looked after terribly. The car was really old and literally smelt like piss, had over 151,000 km on the mileage, was full of cosmetic damage and the reverse camera was broken. There are numerous reviews talking about the age of the cars and wear and tear, yet the company seems to only care about money and not fix any of it. The reverse camera was quite literally taped on. Terrible rental company, you’re better off simply using another rental company or just taking an Uber everywhere.
