I had a mixed experience with my rental from EZU Car Rentals. On the positive side, the price was somewhat better compared to other companies, but I'm not sure if it fully justifies the issues I encountered.nnInstead of the newer model I had expected, I was given an older one. The car had a damaged front bumper, and the wiper blades didn’t work properly. The driver's seat was worn out, and the tires were quite worn down, which raised safety concerns. Additionally, the suspension and undercarriage seemed to be in very poor condition.nnAccording to the service history, the vehicle had not undergone regular maintenance, which was disappointing. Overall, while the lower price was a plus, the condition of the vehicle left much to be desired.
What an abysmal company - car rental scammers. I urge anyone considering renting from this company to not get lured in by their low prices, they will get more money from you through their extortionate insurance, or without insurance claiming you damaged their car with no credible evidence.nnWe rented a Suzuki swift, and received a car with 150,000km on the mileage, it had scratches all over and a radio that didn’t work. It’s okay we thought, we paid a low price so we get an old car, it’s fine. We then used the car for a week with no incident.nOn return of the car the employee took a very brief look at the car they told us there was damage in the underside of the car that would cost NZD 3000. Excuse me we said? They showed us a picture of the underside and said there was clear evidence of recent damage. There wasn’t, they couldn’t even draw a circle around where the damage was in the photo. We had a large back and forth but they didn’t budge so we left expecting to hear from them regarding this “damage” repair. After two weeks, we had heard nothing.nnIt’s an absolute scam. They’ve been completely opaque and made no attempt to contact me after they told me on the day of drop off I would have my NZD 1000 deposit withheld - I had to chase them for a return of my NZD 1000 deposit and they responded 6 days later, citing the exact same flimsy evidence. Three weeks after drop off and there was no evidence of repairs being undertaken, no evidence of the condition of the underside of the vehicle and the same NZD 3000 damages claim made after about 20 seconds look at the car. It’s clearly an arbitrary fabrication of repair costs to withhold my NZD1000 deposit.nnIf I don’t get back that NZD 1000 amount, the total cost of the rental will double so it would have been better of going with any of the other car rental companies at Christchurch Airport. We rented from Ezi not to be confused with EZU from Christchurch a few days before and they were a far, far better company in every way: we received a good new car and excellent customer service. You’d be correct in thinking maybe I should have got the insurance they sell you, but at that price I could have rented from another company and received a car that didn’t struggle to reach 100km/h.nnMy advice if you are considering renting from this company:n1. Seek professional help;n2. Don’t; but if you do,n3. Get their insurance option only if it is still cheaper than another company but accept you’ll be driving a car that is barely road legal.n4. Take pictures of everything including the underside of the car. Without a 3d CT scan with contrast, they’d probably find some damage to claim you did though. Take a video of you turning on the car and driving the car.n5. Film everything and an audible video of anything that seems even a tiny bit odd.n6. Good luck! These jokers are an atrocious company and with any luck they won’t exist anymore if you are looking for a car rental in Christchurch.nnThis company was a stain on our trip to New Zealand and I recommend anyone looking for a nice car and experience in New Zealand, avoid this company at all costs.nnIsaac
I had a terrible experience with this car rental service. First, while the car was affordable, it reeked of a horrible smell, as if it had never been cleaned. The sweat from previous users was stinky, and while turning on the air conditioning helped slightly, the smell never fully went away. Clearly, cleanliness and maintenance are not priorities here.nnSecond, the company charged my credit card without prior notice to pay for a car park issue. They only informed me after the transaction was completed and any issue for appeal was rejected. This lack of communication is completely unacceptable. Proper email reply would be appreciated.nnWill not repeat. Cheap does not always mean good!
I had an exceptional experience with EZU! I hired a vehicle for seven passengers with wheelchair access and requested an upgrade to get more boot space. The team kindly accommodated my request at no additional charge.nnThe pick-up and drop-off process was seamless, and the staff went above and beyond by assisting with a last-minute passenger drop-off to a nearby hotel. Their customer service was outstanding, and they truly made the experience stress-free. Highly recommended for anyone looking for reliable and accommodating car hire services!
Thanks for the great service! The staff were friendly and helpful. When I arrived the staff picked me up from the airport in 10 min or even less and the car was ready on my arrival. All info was available since the first moment I booked and was also clear and easy to understand.
