Spent a lovely time here - good views, nice room, friendly service close to shops, ferry and restaurants. Thoroughly recommended.

Rooms are a bit rundown but the prices are ok. Staff were very helpful but also very busy. The building needs some TLC. Beds were comfortable and the location is second to none

If you are thinking of staying here… Don’t! it’s far from a 4 star hotel, not sure how they got the stars but it’s definitely worse than any hotels or hostels I’ve ever stayed at!nHubby booked it as a New Year’s Eve surprise getaway for us, we were definitely surprised…nThe room had an unpleasant smell as you enter, lumpy bed, stained couch, run down wallpapers, dirty windows with lots of small bugs flying near it, old bathroom with smelly shower and no aircon, just a cheap fan in the room. We were a little shocked but thought we’ll stay as we had dinner booked elsewhere later in the night and we wanted to watch the city fireworks from Devonport. We went for a walk and came back 2 hrs later, to find that the wall was leaking! It was raining we immediately decided to check out and ask for a refund, it was definitely not worth almost $500 a night! We had to cancel all other plans too. The price would’ve been acceptable for New Year’s Eve, but NOT for the state of the room. I have no idea how other guests coped but this place needs an upgrade! It’s sad because the architecture is nice, would’ve been a pleasant stay…

The location is perfect for everything in Devonport & the building must have been amazing in is day but the hotel is tired & tatty. The staff were very helpful. We had to ask to be moved first time ever as we weren't happy with the state of the bed. The staff obliged & the second room was much better but at the end of the day it is very basic, there is no air con but our room had ceiling fans & there were clean towels every day. Maintenance is poor. I would not stay here again unless there was no other choice.

We went in expecting delicious Devonshire scones, advertised just outside the zHotel. What we got instead, were over cooked scones, cream straight from an aerosol tin, butter, and jam in packets. For what we paid, we were expecting quality. The only positive outcome was the beautiful teapot & China cups. If this business want to stay afloat, they need to reconsider, real cream, butter & real jam in dishes. How, very disappointing
