I travel to Auckland every 3–4 weeks for work, and for the past 16 months, I’ve consistently stayed at Cordis. However, since Cordis changed their loyalty programme, I no longer earn loyalty points when booking through Orbit our company’s travel agency. In contrast, Accor still recognises these bookings for their loyalty scheme, which is the only reason I’ve stayed at Novotel for my last three visits.nnUnfortunately, my experience with Novotel has been disappointing and doesn’t justify the price point—comparable to Cordis or any other 4-star hotel. The quality of service and rooms is significantly lower. For instance:nnYou can't stream any content from your own device.nnThe AC and mini fridge are inconsistent at best—sometimes not working at all.nnParking, even when paid for in advance, feels like a gamble.nnThe rooms are noticeably worn down.nnI often stay 3–4 nights and bring my own snacks and drinks, so a functioning fridge is important. On more than one occasion, housekeeping has removed the key card to save power—without considering that food stored in the fridge will spoil. On top of that, basic service has been lacking: rooms aren’t properly cleaned, pillows left off the bed, and amenities missing.nnI appreciate the hotel’s sustainability efforts—I’m nearly vegan and reuse towels—but the absence of basic toiletries like reliable toothpaste is puzzling. Twice, I’ve opened the dental kit only to find the toothpaste completely solid and unusable.nnIf I find a hotel chain that provides loyalty points through Orbit bookings, I will switch. Until now, I simply haven’t had the time to research alternatives.
You get what you pay for?nnWe stayed for a work conference. The accomodation is incredibly dated. The bathroom is in desperate need of an upgrade including the room decor. It looks like it’s stuck in the 70th.nnCheck-in was easy and the staff were friendly. Downstairs bar is good and the breakfast was sufficient. Good location to the Ellerslie race course.
During our weekend breakfast, we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service at this restaurant. The waitstaff were prompt and efficient, always clearing empty plates with a smile. The chef was both polite and accommodating, ensuring we had everything we needed for a delightful meal. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff, which set the tone for the entire experience. The friendly and attentive team truly made our dining experience enjoyable and memorable. It’s clear that customer service is a top priority here, and it’s a big reason why we’ll be returning!
Front desk was very accommodating and friendly, made checking in a breeze. Rooms were set up nicely and plenty of space. Parking was a little bit of a hassle as their parking was full so we had to park across the road and carry our bags over.
Just had the buffet here. Good range of food for both dinner and breakie. Kid friendly and worth taking them as there's plenty of options for picky eaters. Easy going for the family with decent amount of parking nearby.
