Stayed at La Quinta for 2 nights 22nd to 24th Feb. We chose this place at it was more less halfway between the airport and city centre as that suited our travel plans well. Check-in was smooth and the receptionist was friendly. The room itself was decent size and clean throughout. The hotel also has a small gym, equipped with some cardio machines and a free-weight area.nnThere are a good few restaurants and pubs c5-10min walking distance. Ellerslie train station is a couple of minutes away and it is only a short train ride to Auckland CBD.
Recently stayed for 4 nights on a business trip. Fantastic studio apartment with kitchen facilities, table and chairs to work from and a super comfortable king bed. The bathroom contained a washing machine and clothes dryer which I didn't use. All of the staff I dealt with were super friendly and helpful. Great cafe a 2 minute walk away for breakfast and a couple of dinner options as well. Pizza and an Asian fusion place. I believe there will also be a small supermarket taking up a space on the ground soon too which will be very handy. I walked through to Ellerslie village one evening, took 5 minutes and the village has a good selection of pubs, restaurants and takeaways. I showed my room keycard to the guys at the Union Post and got 10% deducted from my bill. Great partnership and went there twice!
The hotel doesn’t have 24/7 Reception so arriving outside working hours is complicated. parking is also difficult and you have to pay extra $25 Per night.nnYou have to wait until 10 am to check in if you arrived the day before outside of working hours so we have to stay at the hotel until 10 am before we could get out.nnWhen I asked Reception about the charges for parking, they were not friendly. They didn’t have the patience to explain to me. They just spoke to my partner who understood them but staff just keep talking to him and ignored me.
The hotel rooms were very clean, thanks to the thorough cleaning staff. The room was a good size and had one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on. It also came with a washing machine and dryer, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, the location wasn't ideal, as everything was a bit of a distance away.
0/9/24 The experience I encountered was far below the standards I expected, particularly given the treatment I received from your Saturday daytime manager.nnFurther issues compounded my disappointment:n1. The TV didn’t work because the remote batteries were dead. Even after replacing them, the TV required a Google login just to watch anything.n2. The hotel’s entrance design is a nightmare, particularly on a rainy day.n3. The placement of “Caution: Wet Floor” signs was absurd. They were inside the lobby and near the lifts, where it wasn’t raining. As a result, I slipped and fell badly, injuring my knee, which is now swollen and concerning. It is the manager’s responsibility to ensure these signs are placed appropriately outside, where the actual hazard was.nnWhen I arrived in person and showed proof of my booking, she eventually found it but insisted on charging an additional $50 for the early check-in, which I agreed to pay. On top of that, she took a $300 bond for a room that had minimal amenities—a jug and a non-functioning TV.nnthe $300 bond. It was charged to my account, not held, and has yet to be refunded. This was not disclosed at the time of booking, and I find it unacceptable.nnI gave them a chance to respond nothingnnOverall, the lack of professionalism, poor room conditions, hidden charges, and safety hazards made my experience with your hotel unacceptable. I will not be returning to your hotel and feel compelled to warn others about my experience.
