New World Supermarket St Martins

I am totally sick of buying hot food from this supermarket that's below luke warm. The bakery and deli staff seriously need training in food safety practices. Pies have to be hot going in to a warmer and stay at a stable temperature. Chips and chicken are just as bad.

A very pleasant shopping experience. The mall is clean, spacious, and well-organized, with a good variety of shops and dining options. Easy to walk around and definitely a nice place to spend time.

The store feels disorganised, the atmosphere is tense, and the customer service is hit‑and‑miss at best.nnWhat really pushed me to leave this review is the management. On more than one occasion, I’ve raised reasonable concerns, and the floor manager simply brushed them off. There’s a clear lack of accountability, and it shows — staff look stressed, overwhelmed, and unsupported, which directly affects the service customers receive.nnFor the prices this store charges, you’d expect a much higher standard of professionalism and care. Instead, it feels like the basics aren’t being handled, and any attempt to give feedback is dismissed rather than taken seriously.nnI’ve decided to shop elsewhere, and based on my experiences, I’d recommend others do the same until the management steps up and addresses the issues that are so obvious to customers.

An open front pet-food fridge is consistently too warm for safe raw meat storage. We have returned rotten meat for refund three times and reported it to staff. They were dismissive and failed to rectify the issue. The ‘Jimbo’ products are clearly warmer to touch than at other New World stores and there is no thermometer on the fridge. We feel unheard after 13 years of weekly shopping and we now travel from Lyttelton to Merivale or Durham Street stores - where the pet food fridges are at the correct temperature and the product is properly merchandised.
