This is always a derelict experience. Absolutely disgusts me the amount of smokers who sit outside the main doors poluting the air and you have to battle your way through the fog before you enter the hospital. Surely this should be banned?
I hope I never end up there again. I've visited Middlemore ED several times now in one week. Each time I visit, it gets worse. On my last visit, I was severely ill, with pain in my abdomen, severe nausea and vomiting.nI was unable to take my pain meds or any fluid. I genuinely feel as if most of them couldn’t care less. The standard of care and expectation of them is so low most don’t bother to do even the bare minimum. In total, I waited 7.30 hours to be seen by a Dr. It took one hour before I was triaged by a nurse who asked me my pain level. I proceeded to tell him that my Pain was 8 out of 10, and I hadn’t been able to take my prescribed pain medications from a few days ago or fluid, plus the fact I had hardly been able to eat for 2 weeks. Because I wasn't able to keep anything down due to the nausea, vomiting and cramping that was happening. I was informed I was well enough to wait in the waiting room with no blood taken, no IV or drip. At the 3-hour mark of waiting in severe agony, my mum finally arsed the alarm. It took another hour before they proceeded to pace an IV. All they gave me was anti-nausea meds. I then spent the next three hours sitting in a chair, dry reaching, cramping and coming in and out of consciousness, all with no nurse ever checking in on me. But by the time a doctor called me, I couldn’t even stand or walk. I was so weak I had to be carried by Mum to their furthest room to be finally checked out.nYou get the odd kind person, caring orderlies, and some friendly nurses and Drs, but you are lucky to see a Dr who wants to investigate why you have ended up in the emergency room.nI have severe gastric issues, pain, and constipation, and I have been unable to eat or drink for 4 weeks. With my ultrasound, CT, and blood looking normal. I was told by a very kind Dr who finally saw me that there was nothing she could do because it was not classed as an emergency, and I had to wait until I saw my GP in order to escalate things. Or to come back when you are bleeding or it has perforated. Sound baraza that the emergency doctor could ask gastro or surgical to come and look at me. They then send me home to suffer; well I wait for an outpatient appointment. 6 weeks plus.nThe entire hospital system is so messed up, and patients suffering as a result. My experience is just the tip of the iceberg.nI’m disgusted with the care I am receiving and am scared of what is happening to me and the lack of support that is being given.
Had a fall in evening but mm maybe ok by morning not so grand so went to Eastcare…. Fractured wrist go to MM 10 hr wait…. going to an emergency centre counts for nothing. At 10 hrs had Telehealth with a Dr in UK…. Then treatment initiated thanks so much Dr Sam Moon a million $ such a long day …. Sandy in ED very helpful also and such a lovely CN who triaged me….. then assisted with plaster cast right on shift change…. I so appreciated that thank you .

We arrived at ED last night 11pm.nBy 4am nurse comes to ask if we're still there and I say yes. At 5am I go to ask where's the dr for my baby who's fast asleep in the play room they apologize and say others before us have waited more than 8 hours.nnOn returning to the play room i glance unto the room and see two woman waiting than I see one of them throwing books around. I call the nurse in charge to get the pair removed unacceptable behavior...the nurse said she, the one throwing books could stay and I said ah no she's not she just finished throwing books around with my baby sleeping in the room ah no she needs to go....really middlemore Hospital.nnIt's 615am and we should be leaving at 7am that's an 8 hour wait for a 5 year old boy
