Grand Mercure

Hotel looks nice and food is pretty good. Rooms are small and quirky though have to turn on main light to make the others work, waking up anyone sleeping, location is not great, and service is poor and disorganized.

Amazing experience. The rooms were clean, tidy and well presented. Was very impressed. They had a 1hour chocolate tasting experience for all guests. An amazing kids leisure play room for families, a huge pool, sauna and a gym. Would definitely come back.Rooms: 5/5

Had a great stay, wished we arrived in time for chocolate hour, but they had complimentary cookies and teas upon arrival. Staff was friendly, the rooms were nice and clean, and the restaurant/bar was also pleasant. Nice amenities, close to Cuba st and local shops/restaurants, wish they had more washer/dryers but overall would recommend and stay again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Large room with a very comfortable bed, and we had a great view on the 9th floor. Staff were friendly, and they offer nice touches like fresh baked cookies in the lobby and a daily 'chocolate hour'. Just be aware the approach up the hill is pretty steep, so not an ideal location if you're not able-bodied.

Really nice hotel and central to Wellington. We enjoyed how great this place was to access the town. Beware though it's a big hill to walk up to the hotel. They ran a fondue afternoon when we were there, great relaxed atmosphere. well worth attending that. Staff were always helpful when ever we came by.Rooms: 4/5

I recently stayed two nights with a friend for WOW. The room, staff and amenities were all fantastic. We were particularly impressed by the generosity of one staff member who taught us all about Wellington Chocolate Factory's beautiful cacao tea - available every evening in the hotel lobby! I'll be telling all my friends about our wonderful experience.

Outstanding Hotel. One of the very best we've stayed at and we regularly use hotels around the country. Presentation & atmosphere on entry were of the highest standard, rooms well presented. Staff clearly well trained & wanting to be there, delivering exceptional service. Will be the hotel of choice for our next visit to Wellington.

I would say a nice hotel, but not amazing and for the pricing I would have, in hindsight, considered other options that had some more to offer. The lobby and restaurant of the hotel has had a lot of attention to detail in renovations but the rooms less so, and sizing is outdated compared to similarly priced/ class of hotel. I would say this is reasonably typical for an older hotel that has been renovated. All together reasonably happy, but was expecting more based on the online imagery etc. Fantastic staff however, next time I would opt for another hotel.

- Staff were very pleasant and attentive. - The chocolate hour was a nice touch. - Bar overlooking the city was nice to enjoy a cocktail - Bed was comfortable - Would say this is more of a 4 star hotel due to the small rooms and alright lesuire facilities, pool was too cold to comfortably spend any time in.

Good place for a family with kids. We enjoyed every aspect of this hotel, friendly staff, clean room, nice restaurant. We also enjoyed the complimentary chocolate experience at 4 30 every day and the ice cream for kids. Strongly recommend.Rooms: 5/5
