The staff! I was well looked after by the staff at Oaks hotel on Courtenay place. I locked my keys in my car and the staff went above and beyond to help me. The staff are so very kind and caring and I’m very grateful. My room was excellent, comfy bed, large space with balcony. Excellent room and close to all shops/entertainment. A fantastic place to stay in Wellington. The parking is definitely tight!
Service was amazing especially the waitress in the restaurant. However I’m concerned about the parking the hotel offers. It might be advantageous to tell guests that only small cars are suitable for parking as I’ve seen on other hotel sites as upon leaving I have damaged my car considerably going down two of the extremely small ramps to exit. Really disappointed!! Having an interior room with no windows was a first experience for me and was not something I would recommend for more than a 2 night stay.
The location of the hotel is perfect. Right bang in the city center. Close to the water front, culture and restaurants. Plenty of food options around. Walking distance to the Victoria University of Wellington. The rooms were tiny and the walls were not so thick, I could hear my neighbors talking, which was not ideal because I wanted to sleep. I also had no view from the window. Other than that no issues. The staff was friendly and professional. Rooms: Small, but clean. Nearby activities: Bars, restaurants, museums and sports. All close by. Walkability: You can get virtually anywhere walking from this place. Including the Te Papa Museum.
Chosen it due to being at the city centre. 1. The staff isn't too friendly. 2. Door bangs loudly, so anyone who closes their door will cause a loud bang. 3. THE ROOM DOESN'T HAVE WINDOWS. 4. The phone doesn't seem to work, can't connect to the main desk. 5. No slippers were provided. No cotton buds were provided, when the whole room is carpeted and many people used it before. Nor the staff vacuum the place. 6. Toiletries were so little, maybe 10ml per shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner. They provide fridge and hair dryer. We were there for more than 2 days, and every time entering the room, we had sinus. On the day of check out, we had terrible sore throat, and pounding headache, unsure if the air is circulating virus. It was so bad, we had to find something to fix it. Once we left the room, we felt much better. This happens from day 1 to check in till check out date. The room was suffocating and obviously even with AC on for 24/7 doesn't help as it doesn't have any fresh air. It causes your throat to be dry and eyes becoming watery from the dust floating in the room. I even doubt the carpet was vacuumed in every room. Normal check out time is 10am, and they won't allow late check out. The latest they allowed is 11am! I won't recommend anyone to stay there when it's 200/night. You have better options elsewhere.
Very disappointed. I realize that there is a shortage of staff, and this is why my room was not serviced, but I would have liked that reflected in the cost of my stay. When I did ask for soap, tea, milk it was given grudgingly. The room was tidy enough but there was toenail clipping on the floor, not mine. The entrance to the hotel was disgusting, being next door to a TAB, there were cigarette butts and litter all over the entrance way which was blowing into the hotel lobby. You'd have thought that the staff could clean it up as it was the only entrance into the hotel. Doubt whether I will stay there again.
Strong blue light shining from the outside straight to the bedroom leaching around the curtains which made it hard to sleep. Spacious bedrooms and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Breakfast not included when the price of the night is that expensive is really disappointingRooms: 3/5
Travelled from whangarei for WOW show. Room was average bed was comfy but was not very clean. Fingerprints and marks on the walls. Bathroom door wouldn't stay shut. The service was poor we had to keep calling to ask for basic items like coffee sugar towels toilet paper etc. We asked for our room to be service which was not done. We then had no water for 4 hours and were not told about it. Will not be staying here again would rather pay extra money for better service.
So disappointed in my stay. Was booked in for 3 nights stay but ended up checking out early due to an awful smell as we walked into our room. The real icing on the cake was when I went to have a shower there was black mould all around the base and sides. Was told it was just the silicone but being in the building industry I know for a fact if cleaned and looked after that shouldn't be like that. For $485+ a night I wasnt happy at all. I'll give the lady credit who help she did offer a nicer room but due to being already let down with the current room wasn't interested in going to another. In the end I requested a refund which I partially got and moved on to another hotel. Overall if you were to book the photos are way nicer than the rooms really are. Not worth the money spent.
Either avoid at all costs, or book but make sure you know what you’re getting. The hotel is nestled between strip clubs, kebab shops and betting/gambling shops. The entire neighborhood gets very crowded and rowdy on a Saturday night. My room had no windows. Housekeeping only came every other day not enough staff to do all rooms every day. Of course this wasn’t communicated in advance or even at check in. And the room was incredibly loud I suspect it was next to the elevator shaft which rumbled every time it was in use. Never again.
We were disappointed with the quality of the rooms and the high prices being charged, including parking fees in a very cramped carpark don't bother if you have a car over medium size. The location is excellent but the corridors have no ventilation and were oppressively hot. The aircon took hours to cool the room and sleep was hard to come by. The buffet breakfasts were overpriced. We will not return.
