We visited Emerson's in Dunedin to taste the famous locally made beers & especially Albar's salted caramel whisky. I fell in love with the place at first sight. The red brick building with black interior was very inviting. The atmosphere, the interior, the vibe was just wonderful & full of zest & energy. I witnessed people of every age group enjoying their heart out. Excellent drinks & sumptuous food but a bit on the higher prices side. If you are looking to taste the awesome local beers, drinks & gourmet dishes there's Emerson's at the top spot. A must visit.
Good food, and drinks. Great location for casual or formal group dining, with booth and table seating. Also, a large outdoor area available. Booth seating can be cramped when seating more than 4-5 people.
First time at this restaurant. Didn't really know what to expect as had mixed reviews. Awesome atmosphere with appropriate decor. Brewery tours next door to restaurant/bar area. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs and answered questions regarding the craft beers. Food was ok. Parts of the meal was very good and some not so good. Overall a fairly good experience
We went for a brewery tour, which was great. It is very interesting to learn about the history of Emerson's and the art of beer brewing. Definitely enjoyed the flight of beers we could test. Came back the next evening for dinner. Steaks were tender and perfectly cooked. The fries are definitely worth to be mentioned - probably the best I had in a very long time. Unfortunately, due to the liquor law in NZ, we were only allowed to have 1 beer each on Easter Monday.
We had a absolutely delightful 12 hour brisket. It was sweet and juicy with burnt edges. It sat on top of two golden breaded potato fritters. On top, the garnishes included a pickled purple cabbage and sprouts. The plate had swirl of mustard and purple ? Together it was St.Patrick's day extravaganza with an international flare fit for royalty. Do try it. It will knock your socks off.nnFrom the young man at the desk who sat us, the wee Irsh lass who was quick cleaver and witty and who kindly waited our table, to the manager who told us about the place and selected our sampler tray of Emerson brews... the service was welcoming, fun, and posh.
